This is a cute toy. We purchased this for our 7 month old, who is becoming more and more active and busy by the day. The head and beak doesn't fit onto the toy very securely, so basically we leave it off and don't even use it...it is a bit worthless. The overall functionality of the toy is great...as he gets older, it will be fun for him to fit the shapes into. It is a bit dangerous to leave with him by himself like in the playpen, because if he teeters and falls over, it could hurt him; there are sharp edges and it is hard plastic. It is a fun toy...right now, he loves to chew on the shaped blocks, and has fun throwing them down. It is a little pricey for what it is, also. He has thrown the whole thing down onto the floor from his high chair and it did not break, so that was a huge plus.
I was really expecting this to be a hit with my daughter, but it keeps falling apart and detracts from the point of the toy. The red beak/head (top lid) come off VERY easily. They should have considered the age in which toddlers are playing with this toy and made it a little more durable. Toddlers don't play with toys gingerly. My daughter is 14 months old and will lift up the toy by the red beak and it just falls off. Then she walks off with the beak and plays with that instead of the toy itself and defeats the purpose. There are other toys with a similar concept that are constructed much better!!!
