Easy To Use

After doing a good amount of research on this particular phone, I selected it because it was very practical to use. Tracfone upgraded my area with a higher download speed, so I needed a phone to serve my purpose. I'm a senior citizen, so this phone was ideal for me. Also, the price was very reasonable.

I bought this phone, as a replacement phone, for my old 2g network phone. I purchased it back in August of 2016, & put it into service, in October. I had no problems, switching out my old phone, to the A394C, with Trac! It's been a great phone! It doesn't do much, but it does, what I need to do, on it! The volume is good & I can hear my caller, ok! It's easy to use, & makes calls, & answers calls, easily! The voicemail is easy to set up! When texting, I find it easier to use the abc mode! The battery life seems ok, however, I don't spend much time on my cell phone, so my battery has never run low, on me! Also, I don't really use the camera function, so I can't give an opinion, on that! Anyway, it seems like a sturdy phone, & it has kind of a slip resistance case, with ribbing on the back of it! Doesn't feel cheap!

I bought this phone at the local WalMart store because the Tracfone I've had a couple of years works on a 2G network, which is being phased out. This phone is a 3G, but it's not listed on the box or anywhere. The store associate had to call to verify that it is 3G. This phone is a "backup" phone for me, so it's used very little. Having Tracfone service works great for that purpose because you can keep the minutes as long as you buy more minutes before your Service End Date runs out. This phone gets double minutes when you add minutes, which is great. Reading the online info, this phone claims to have better talk time and better standby time than the other flip phones for Tracfone. That was what made this phone better for me. Since this type of phone is popular with Seniors, the volume is very important. Sitting in my livingroom without extra noise, I can hear things fine (I have the phone volume turned up to the highest). If you press the button to use the speaker, it really blasts the sound very loud with it set on the highest level. When I was setting up my voicemail, it took several tries to enter my name. There was quite a bit of static, but I finally got it entered so a person could hear my name if they were leaving a voice message. If you love to receive pictures on your cell phone from family, this phone might not be for you. It has a camera, and photos taken with this phone goes right onto the sd memory card. That's good, that's easy. BUT, I cannot figure out how to save pictures onto the memory card that are sent to me. There is a feature that you can "lock" the message with the picture so it won't be accidentally deleted. I'm still trying to find the method to save received pictures onto the sd card. (I've only had the phone a week or so.) My next step is to go to Tracfone.com (online chat or email) and see if they can help me. When I bought this phone, I called the customer service number that is listed on the instructions enclosed with the new phone to have them help me transfer my current phone number and unused minutes to this new phone. It worked very well, and the customer service rep was very polite, even calling me a couple of days later to verify that everything went well--yes, it did. So, if you just want a simple phone and don't expect to do much, if anything, with it on the internet, it will probably be very good for you. The price is right, so if it doesn't meet your needs, it's easy to get another phone and still not lose the money you spent on minutes. The biggest pain is entering your contacts one by one :(

Nice Phone. Easy to use. Pictures are OK. Zoom function not so good. Not a good selection of ring-tones. Takes some time to understand the functions. User manual not the greatest.

I need a flip phone to protect the screen and keyboard while carried in my pocket. I chose this model because of the digital display on the outside of the case when closed, which lets the phone double as a digital time and date pocket watch. This feature is nice, and works well. Unfortunately, the unit has other drawbacks. The large soft keys look inviting but respond only when pressed near the center, so they can actually complicate data entry until one can get used to this. The bottom of the cover shifts up to 1/8 inch side to side when closed, and feels flimsy, but in fairness the hinges have held so far. In my home, the phone barely shows a signal, usually a single bar and very occasionally two, while every other phone I have used there shows at least three bars. Calls still go through, but I worry about connectivity in truly low signal areas. Finally, and perhaps most disappointingly, the battery display indicates a life of about 4 days on standby, a huge comedown from the "up to 14 days" advertised. Overall, the phone is marginally OK so far, but I'm disappointed in the battery life and not secure about its overall performance or longevity.

Couple of these are mentioned in the other review, but it really isn't a bad phone. First and foremost the phone doesn't exactly feel cheap... When opened, when closed the screen/camera half does have a bit of give. The buttons are easy to read and I hadn't had issues pressing them. It has a true camera shortcut key, though it is rather easy to accidentally press. Screen is very easy to read in the sunlight, and so is the multi-colored(!) notification/clock display. Sometimes I need to press a button to wake the screen, which seems like either a hardware defect or a firmware bug. On one material defect I notice a hairline gap in the battery cover and doesn't sit evenly but doesn't creak or click when I press my finger against it. Second, for the user-friendliness I do like the UI flavor but there's some input lag. It isn't so bad that I need to suspect a defect, as this is a problem with some BREW (mobile OS) handsets, not the snappiest input ever. You can switch to list view in the click of a single button. One other complaint is the audio-volume settings, you would forget that multimedia and key beeps share volume, I'm not sure if this is a firmware bug but sometimes the "Playback Volume" does not register a settings change. The media player is easy and intuitive to set up, for some reason playing music on the 'Now Playing' list uses internal storage. Pretty annoying oversight. Camera isn't going to blow anyone away but it's legible, on the other hand anything is better than VGA. Third and finally, the battery life. It isn't fantastic. At only 850 mah with two displays the minimum should be 950 and that does make a big difference, because the GPS Location-Services feature and Bluetooth 3.0 take up a lot of battery for just a feature phone. I've dropped half battery in just two days whereas a previous CDMA model lasted two and a half weeks with location services turned on. Very low-ball for a higher end feature phone. Overall this would be a FANTASTIC flip phone, if key areas like battery life and the input lag wasn't there. I think there should be a "yes and no" option for "recommend this product".
