This is a great grill except for the ash catcher located on the bottom,the screws that secure the catcher to the grill and the screw holes rust out.I have one that i have had for about two years now and this is the only problem that i have encountered.I did recently purchase another one but only for the reason of the ash catcher problem.The rest of the grill is still almost like new.I do try to take care of my stuff,maybe oiling and baking the ash catcher will eliminate this problem,we'll see otherwise great product for the price.
I purchased this grill at my FRIENDLY Wal-Mart store. The sales associates were very helpful. I have used it around 50 times and it is STILL performing LIKE NEW. It was VERY, VERY EASY to assemble and it only took about 20 minutes. It came with everything (to include a screwdriver and wrench) to put it together. I was also looking a WEBER charcoal grill, but I decided to purchase this one. You can NOT beat the price. If you buy a different grill, you could PAY TOO MUCH.
Well, that's what you really want to know, isn't it? The only difference is the weight of the steel used. Weber is heavier. The Uniflame grill is solid, weighs approx. 25 lbs. and has only one drawback. The lid attaches to the base (nice locking mechanism too for safety), but the lid tends to act like a ship's sail when left upright with generally windy conditions. Otherwise, the ash catching tray is handy and useful, construction solid and at half the price of a Weber. Go for it. Whether traveling with it or in your own back yard, it's ideal for the money. Real easy assembly. Parts needed for each assemby stage, were neatly packed in a bubble. Easily cleaned. With just a few briquetts heat output was awesome.Ash catcher is a good feature also. For what we needed, this unit more than serves its purpose.
I purchased this grill for myself and my son and was totally satisfied with the product. It was easy to assemble and was a great value.
Very nice buy for the price. Very well suited for the family cookout for which it was intended. Highly recommended.
I read all the other reviews before buying the grill, so I was prepared for cheap packaging, problems with missing parts, and unclear assembly manual. I figured that I would save a lot of money to offset the faults. Unlike other purchasers, my grill arrived in perfect condition....no dents or chips. Maybe the manufacturer listened and beefed up the protective packaging. However, my grill was missing some washers and may collapse after I submit this review, but I assembled the grill without them so I could have my first hamburger. It took me about 2 hours to put it together because I kept looking for the missing washers and tried to locate some on my own. And also because I had to take the 4 legs off because the manual didn't mention there were two different kinds for front and back, and then you had to judge which was the front of the grill. Despite this loss of time. it all got put together and some nice features, like the ash catcher (which was hard to figure out how to put together), the warming grill, the whitewall wheels, the bottom shelf underneath the grill, and the locking lid, made a quality unit. I like Uniflame and will not leave the grill uncovered to ward off rust, so I expect to get my money's worth. Also, it is HUGE, so I don't have to worry about the number of guests. I took the risk and am having fun with all the features.
My wife purchased this grill and while assembling it I noticed it is very cheap metal. After one use on a Saturday afternoon the weld broke on one of the legs and I was not able to reconnect it with the screw. So now I have a piece of junk metal to dump in the trash. I would not recommend buying this grill unless you want to throw it away after the first use.
Unit arrived damaged due to poor packaging. The dented lid also revealed another major flaw because all of the paint in the dented area peeled off leaving bear metal. I had no problem returning the item to Walmart and was cheerfully refunded my money. I decided to pay $59.70 instead of $40 and bought an 18 1/2 inch Weber from Walmart instead.
Here is the bad thing first, the ashtray is a joke, it's got a big gaps that let's the air in way to much that make your charcoals burn real fast, and the ashtray handle broke for the first time of using it. If you want to spend $40 and you are using this all the time, wouldn't last for 1 year, why not spend double and get the Weber that will last for year? Remember you get what you pay for.
