I read most of the reviews and found some complaints about the size, sifting and locking the hood down. Well, the size is just fine for my 3 boys (1 Siamese & 2 Maine Coon brothers). In the beginning you may find some difficulties but once you find a "routine" to sift, it works out great. Even takes me less time now. As far as locking the hood into place...push down on each corner and the clips will lock into place (listen/feel for 2 clicks). Do the same when releasing the hood too so you won't snap the clips. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.
Perfect size for my oversized cat. He made such a mess in the smaller box. I love the ease of cleaning. You sift, dispose of waste and save the rest of the litter. So simple and no scooping r using hands. Truly appreciate this method of cleaning the litter box and very happy to have found the larger size. It does use more litter which is expensive but necessary. Perfect solution for my big boy.
Excellent product, well made, and my long haired large domestic cat loves it also !!! Keeps all the litter inside the box!! The sifting part works great!! inbetween siftings i do use a scoop to keep up with having clean litter on a daily basis for my kitty. Only recommendation is to not over-fill with the litter since this is a large pan, i would only put in about 3" worth of litter and replace what i take out on the daily basis. if you put more than 3" of litter in the box, it gets pretty heavy to lift it up. otherwise i love it !!!
Honestly these litter boxes have been such a game changer for our two cats. I make much less of a mess and I don't have to scoop I just pull up they layer that sifts out the waste from the litter. Then when it's time to dump the litter it's easy. The only thing that's a little difficult is getting the other bottom portion that you switch over to when you scoop sometimes get stuck but it will get unstuck with some wiggling. Other than that they are large and make doing littlerboxes not time consuming. If your cat is stingy you can also remove the front door flap. Recommend this product.
I am so pleased with this product! I used to despise, agonize, and delay the whole changing of the litter box because it was so time consuming, smelly, and difficult. The previous litter pan we had was a sifting pan, but the holes were so small it was a double chore. This new pan is so easy I just remove the top, and lift! The holes are wider so it makes for much easier sifting. I know our cat loves the privacy as well. When he had the other pan he would get spooked if anyone say, walked in on him. Now he has all the privacy he needs and does not freak out when someone enters the room...Awesome Product!!!
The practical design of this Van Ness Giant Sifting Enclosed Cat Pan is simple to use--for you and your kitty. Kitty can easily get in and out of the hinged hanging "odor door"--just like he would on a traditional/standard enclosed litter box. Easily the best feature: the alternating two pan with sifting screen system--you (or perhaps your spouse) don't have to fish around for p%p with a yucky little scoop in an icky litter box anymore! Set-up is super quick & easy: Just stack the two pans with the sifting screen on top, then fill with clumping litter and snap on the top enclosure (which by the way, has a replaceable Zeolite air filter). That's it for setup. When you're ready to tidy up the litter just snap off the top/enclosure, lift the sifting screen up and hold it over the stacked pans...shake the sifting screen (kind of like an archeologist sifting at a dig site)...the reusable litter will fall back into the top pan leaving the clumps in the sifting screen. Chuck the clumps. Place the sifting screen in the empty/bottom pan, then pour the sifted litter into the empty pan setup, restack, attach top/enclosure, and it's ready to use again! Otherwise, there's only one issue I've noticed about the utility of this product that I wish were different: I wish the sifting screen had handles or some other mechanism that would make it easier to lift out of the pan. [Note for those who care about the color of the box: When I ordered this item, the image displayed depicted the product as a viridian green. The color of the box I received was a chamoisee brown.]
My one cat walks straight inside and, raises her rear end up when peeing, so everything comes out onto the floor through the window. I have the door cover on it. The clay when wet gets stuck in the grate which makes it harder to clean. Hard to take apart the Three boxes when filled with litter. What is working for me is a plain clear storage container that is 16" tall. My cats jump in and out with no problem, now i have no urine mess on floors. Van ness CP77 extra large.
Waste of money. The door keeps falling off and the sifter is so hard to clean. There was a big sticker on the door that was incredibly hard to remove and left residue. Only giving it 2 stars because i like the size
I liked the design and couldn't find this anywhere else which is why I bought it but one of the clasps literally broke on the first use rendering the handle useless as the lid will come right off when picked up. The material is also super cheap and the plastic is thin. The door flap also broke off at first touch and does not open and close properly after fixing it.
litter clumps in the grate, no matter how much litter i add
