My dog is an American Akita and she is big and really strong which makes it for me hard when we go for a walk because she constantly pulling me. The Vibrant Life black step-in Harness is perfect. Is easy to put on her and no more pulling. I recommend it.
The sizing chart isn't accurate for those (like I did) are shopping online. The Large is actually 22-36 IN. But overall it seems to be well made and sturdy.
I got this harness for our 101 pound mastiff mix dog. It is very sturdy, actually looks heavier duty than the leash we use. The hardware is nice looking and heavy duty, not plastic! The harness is lined with neoprene so it is smooth on her fur, not rough webbing. It adjusts fully so the chest and front can be adjusted to different sizes for a custom fit. She has a very deep chest so this helped a lot. The snap is plastic, heavy duty, but the two metal rings that hook on the leash actually take any tension off that buckle. It fit her and still had plenty of adjustment room to spare. I can't think of a dog too big for this thing to fit (Pretty sure it could fit our pony).
I have an Alaskan Malamute, a relatively small one at 60-65 pounds, but if you are not familiar with the breed I'll tell you that they are the freight pullers of the sled dog breeds. That means that they are not exactly fast but they are strong, and they love to pull. I have, however, managed to partly train my dog to walk on a leash, it's just not always as much fun as it should be. We already have a sled pulling harness but it won't work for walking so I decided to try the Vibrant Life X-Large Comfort Padded Step In Harness and see if it might make things a little easier on me and a lot more fun for both of us. We've been using the harness for about a week now and I really do think it's been a success. We've been walking about a half mile and I'm coming home with arms and back a lot less sore. Pros: Easy to take on and off the dog. Has only one big plastic snap which is on the back/top of the harness. Nicely padded over all of the straps. The leash hooks to two metal D-rings above the snap which takes the pressure off of something plastic and onto stitched seams and metal. Stitching seems to be pretty good. Is adjustable for a wider range of sizes. The strap fabric/webbing is not scratchy or stiff. Cons: Can be a little confusing at first to adjust the size. The straps with the D-rings for attaching to a leash can sometimes slide in between the main straps causing a little confusion when snap ends and D-rings no longer line up. So far I'm pretty happy with the Vibrant Life X-Large Comfort Padded Step In Harness and I think my dog is too. The product seems to be pretty sturdy and I look forward to lots of walks with my dog.
This harness is the easiest harness I have ever used on my dog! It's a battle in itself to get one on him because as soon as he sees the harness and leash he's excited that he's going for a walk so to try and get both legs into each side is hard and with all of the other harnesses I have used the part that separates the leg spaces always goes to one side and the whole thing gets twisted up and I have to restart the process over and over until I finally get it on him. This harness however keeps it's form very well, the leg separator stays in place really well and I think it's because of the cushioned straps that lay against the dog's body keep it from sliding around. It seems like all harnesses claim to be cushioned but this one actually is! There is a lot of cushion! My dog is 110lbs so I have the XL harness and it fits him really well with lots of room left to extend it even larger if needed. The harness does not seem to bother him while it's on and he can go up and down the stairs in it just fine. It's really heavy duty material and it has strong dual loops to attach the leash. The cushion really seems to make a big difference with keeping the harness from digging into him when walking too.
This harness is light but works great. My 20 lb. dog hated the last one we had and we would have to chase him around to get it on. Now he walks up and steps into this one. I was doubtful how secure it would be because it is light with minimal covering but it works great...more importantly my dog loves it!
online it says a large is 18-21" the tag on the one large I received says 22-36" which is to big for my dog. I needed one thats 20" around the chest/tummy but goes smaller around neck/shoulders.
At first, we thought this was perfect. Easy to adjust and easy to put on. Husband has Rheumatoid and had no problem. But the buckle that hooks the two sides together on top broke and even with a leash, our German Shepherd/Husky was able to get right out of it. So, it's useless. We had it about a month.
This was not good for my Dog. We have a medium 50lbs Pitt Bull dog. This harness barely lasted for Two months. The plastic pieces that are used to tighten and loosen broke. Made with Cheap plastic. My dog is an indoor dog only and plastic broke just from her rolling around on my carpet. I purchased on Aug 02, 2022, and it's Oct 17, 2022!
Do not waste your money on this product. I have a 6 mo old husky and she wore it for one hour and the size adjuster snapped and the harness is useless now. My husband tested out the durability by barely applying pressure to the other size adjuster and it too snapped with ease. Do not recommend.
