I received the Catch & Hold Mouse Trap, put peanut butter in the trap as directed, placed outside under my bird feeder for 2 days with no luck. I read online it is wise to use latex gloves when handling a mouse trap to keep human scent off it. I washed the mouse trap in soap and water, put on disposable latex gloves, used a butter knife to place peanut butter in the receptacle, placed the trap up against the side of my patio room wall under the bird feeder and boom, it worked. Caught 2 mice that night. Thank you Victor for a mouse trap that is safe around my pets, but also catches mice during the overnight hours.
This mousetrap is made out of mostly a hard plastic material. The lid is easy to slide back and open to put in peanut butter, which mice love. I have set up the trap and am waiting to see if I catch one. If I do, this trap would be easy to transport to a nature area where I plan to let the mouse go. I have a couple of similar designed traps from Victor that are all metal. I was able to catch and release mice with the metal traps, so I am thinking that this one will work well too. It's best to set these up next to a wall and sort of hidden, because mice like to run along walls.
I really like that that this mouse trap can be used around kids and other animals. Without needing to worry about them setting it off it being around a died mouse. I also like that I dont have to deal with a dead mouse after it is on it. It's really easy to use and it's reusable if you want to use it again. Highly recommend. We used it in our garage and it worked Great.
Ive never liked the old fashioned mouse traps because I fear them snapping back and getting my finger. Ive also tried other non-murder traps which worked ok. I think this one will be great. The lid slides off and on the inside is a small metal seesaw just off to the right side of the trap. On the left side you can put cheese or peanut butter. The mouse crosses the seesaw which drops down so that he can get inside and get the food. Once he exits the seesaw to move closer to the food, the seesaw goes back up, therefore trapping the mouse inside. Now just to find someone to come and get the little guy out, lol.
This trap is great, you can catch the mouse and then release it somewhere far from your house. I always hated the idea of killing a poor mouse. This one is perfect. There is a little area inside the trap to put bait (I put peanut butter) and you attach the top and bottom back together and just wait ! The mouse enters through the front ramp, and once it enters, the ramp goes back up, trapping the mouse in there. You can fit at least two mice in there. Such a great trap !
Looks useful, but there is a broken piece that a Houdini mouse might squeeze through, so I'm going to return it.
So received this product and was a little nervous to use it because it would tell me if I had mice. I really appreciate the fact that it's a humane product, i.e., catches the mice and does not kill them. It was easy to figure out how to get set up from the pictures on the packaging as well as the written instructions. I felt that the bait area was a little small. I did not catch any mice with it, but that tells me it's because I didn't have any mice. I do not feel that it would hold 4 mice in there though, maybe two and even that would be pushing it. I do feel, however, if I did catch mice with it, I would not really be amenable to putting live mice in my car in the box and driving it two miles away to release them; I feel that's not really realistic for folks. All in all though, nice product, and really happy company trying to be humane to the little guys.
I wish the trap tint was lighter. It's hard to see if there is anything in it. I haven't caught a mouse yet in it . I have had it for only a week though. I put sunflower butter in it which should work as good as peanut butter I think. Hopefully I will catch one soon.
I was advised to go ahead and review this item even though I haven't yet caught a mouse, so here goes. You should know that while this trap has a rather large footprint, the opening for the rodents is rather small. The entrance is just an inch and a quarter high as illustrated in the attached photo. Another concern I have is the lack of ventilation. I believe the trap needs to be checked regularly to keep any catches from suffocating, defeating the purpose of a live catch trap.
Doesn't work. My cats caught the mouse.
