my first smartphone

well like the title says, it's my first smartphone. Being strapped for cash, this was the most reasonable choice for me. I steered away from some of the phones that were price a little bit higher based on others reviews. So far, I am happy with my decision. I got it mostly for the purpose of being able to send and receive texts faster and i can say it definitely achieves that purpose. I heard some people say the camera wasn't so great and I was anxious about it at first but after using it I was relieved. The camera app on it has editing capabilities and come in handy, if you don't like it there are other camera apps you can download. I got CameraMX and it has a bit more options like scaling, kaleidoscope, the standard effects, etc. I wish there was more selection for the cases for this phone and while that doesn't really say anything about the functionality of the phone, it may be something to consider. The case I got seems pretty sturdy, I got it off of amazon because i had a gift card so i dont kno if walmart has it but if it doesn't, check out amazon. I haven't dropped it lol and i hope to keep it that way. When i didn't have this phone, i kept notes on my phone by saving them in texts as drafts. It's so much easier and more convenient to be able to take notes on this, i can write personal thoughts or keep track of things to look up later, etc. The 3G works fine, i've been downloading simple apps like sudoku, colornote, lirr train schedule, pandora, youtube, stuff like that and they function nicely. I can't comment on how other apps or games would appear but I'm ASSUMING it should be fine. I've been more than satisfied with my purchase of this ZTE Awe.

Great Phone

My wife and myself both bought the phone. We are both new to smart phones. It was very easy to swap out the phone on line. I have several Android tablets. So I am used to operating system. The great thing was that we kept our money balance on our old Virgin Mobile phone. The phone is much easy to upload pictures on line than my tablets. Customer service for Virgin Mobile set up the second phone. I must say that Virgin Mobile customer service is great. For $49.99 the purchase was worth it.

I saw some mixed reviews about this unit as I wasn't really sure about ordering it first. but for the price of 50 bucks why not. I really can't say enough about this phone. it definitely outperforms my former phone which was the lg Optimus Elite. the only thing I don't like about it is that it's not real good at taking pictures in low light;

So far, so good. The 4" screen helps a lot!

The larger touchscreen and word prediction help a lot! I'm deaf permanently, mute at the moment, cancerous and very slow so it helps to communicate with the doctor and interpreter.

Purchased this phone with the hopes that the audio output would be better than my previous phone (Evo V). So far, am not disappointed. Granted that it is a downsize with regards to the touchscreen size, having to work with a 4.0 screen instead of a 4.3 is not that much of a loss, it's still manageable. Had a little difficulty activating this phone, which could be attributed to the fact that I wasn't close to a WiFi system to get a good signal for the activation process. But after a few minutes on a weak WiFi system, the phone was able to complete the activation. Once that was done, I was able to utilize the 3G speed to update the apps and OS. With the Android 4.1 OS, the phone has no problem opening and closing apps, everything runs fluidly smooth without difficulty. However, it did take me awhile to figure out how to place widgets onto the home screens, since the process is somewhat different on the Awe as compared to my Evo. It's a bit tedious, but once you get accustomed to the process, it's not that big of a headache. The audio output is truly much better than my old phone, even while using it on speakerphone mode, I can hear the call with no difficulty. I love it! However, it may or may not matter to some users, but while on a test call with my wife, she stated that she was able to hear the wind blowing into the microphone from my phone. Although she said she could hear my voice okay, the background noise heard was a little annoying to her. Of course, it was a little windy from where I was speaking from. This just reaffirms my belief that the mic is somewhat sensitive. Taking pictures is not that difficult, however, the image quality is marginal (on my phone anyway), because I found that no matter what image resolution I used, the pictures weren't that clear, especially when I zoomed into the image, the distortion was much more noticeable. Not sure if its a lens problem with my phone or the picture app itself, compared to my old phone... the image quality was much better. Overall, for the price I paid for this phone, it lives up to my expectations. It's a good product if one is only interested in making and receiving calls, sending texts or MMS messages and light surfing on the internet. Although the Awe doesn't have the extravagant features and power as other phones on the market today, it serves me well with its capabilities. I certainly got what I paid for it, and have no regrets!

Best Smart Phone for the Money

Love the phone. Has way more than I expected. Have had Android for years now, but have to figure out how to use this one as it has so many great new features. Long Battery life, and best of all, as I am hard of hearing, it is capable of very loud volume. While RAM is ok,(1.4 gig) still need to have more yet to eliminate low memory problems. Dual Core makes it plenty fast enough for me. For $45.00 you get what $200.00 phones offer. I would call this a midrange phone for a low quality price.

Good performer, ample memory, limited battery life

I bought this phone as a quick replacement to an LG F3 that I dropped. I lost 4G Internet, but gained a much better phone overall. This phone has ample internal memory for a decent number of basic apps (something the LG lacked as factory apps were updated) and it works well overall. Call clarity is good, reception is good, and it has a respectable display for the money. A nice plus is automatic display brightness. Also this phone does have a color coded LED to alert you do missed calls, messages and so on. The only shortcomings are the 3G speed aspect, which may be a non-issue for a lot of people and somewhat limited battery life when compared to some of the other phones in the market. I have noticed the temperature issue as noted by another review. This happens to me only when using GPS and plugged in - indeed the phone does become quite warm. This is due to the display staying on instead of fading away. I don't see this to be a fault, just a characteristic of phone. Most important feature? It works well overall.

Great upgrade from my LG Optimus V.

Loved the reliability of my LG Optimus V (Virgin Mobile pre-pay plan), which shows I am not a hard-core smart phone user. But, as I increased my reliance on it for daily organization, the puny memory quickly made it necessary to upgrade. Purchased the Virgin Mobile ZTE Awe two weeks ago, and couldn't be happier. For just under $50, I greatly increase my memory (internal and SD card, card not included with phone), processing speed, and a great leap forward in Android version. Some may need 4G, quad processor, and/or more current Android version, but so far I am almost completely satisfied with the Awe. My complaints are the buttons. I don't know if it is the locations or the sensitivity, but I am constantly changing volume settings and activating the camera unintentionally. Did not have that problem with the Optimus V. And a problem with every phone I have purchased, they feel too small and light and they slip from my hands easily. This is not really an issue, though, as I can get phone cases that help me achieve the optimum heft and feel. This is a Virgin Mobile phone. I switched my whole family from AT&T a few years ago, and we have saved a boat-load of money (even with having to buy the phones) and have had better reception and service. I understand this is conditional on your location and areas you may frequent.

I was upgrading from a 4 year old android phone that had run out of internal memory. This phone has met my needs so far, and transferring my information was a breeze. I'm very pleased with it, and the price was great.
