I can only hope this is a quality control issue. I've been happily using these paper towels for years, and now suddenly it's a completely different product. The sheets are so thin that they rip in half when trying to tear a sheet off and the texture is not remotely the same. I initially thought I must've made a mistake, but when I returned to the store I can visibly see that the ones on the shelf have this same awful texture. I find it difficult to believe this was intentional. To completely change such a wonderful product without saying a word would be a really bad idea and lead to a lot of lost customers.
I buy this product and cottonel twice every month for years because of the softness like a cloth and the durability. I was disappointed when it suddenly became one side soft not the other but now both side are rough. I refuse to pay more for something that is no longer a factor. If I'm going to buy rough paper towels I'm going to buy a cheaper brand. It's no longer a signature cloth it's just a regular paper towel now.
The paper is now thinner and feels cheap. It also doesn't tear on the perforation. It doesn't absorb as it once did and I feel cheated out of a good paper towel. It seems like the issue with containers costing the same but being less full has hit Viva. I will no longer be purchasing.
There is absolutely something different about the new towels. The first time I used them, I thought I accidentally bought the wrong kind and had to go back and check the packaging. The new towels are thinner than before. They used to feel like cloth, but now they feel like paper. They're kind of soft on one side (although still not as soft as before) and are downright rough on the other side. Very disappointed.
They changed their towels from premium soft and strong to thin and weak. That's fine. Every company has that right. But to gaslight us and tell us nothing has changed in their formula? That is sick and twitsted. I am now finding myself dedicating parts of my day to get the word out on online about how Viva towels have changed for the worse and how a horrible liar handling our quality concerns is gaslighting us. If I see anyone at the store even looking at a package I make sure to let them know what kind of people and product they would be supporting with their money.
I've been a loyal consumer of Viva Signature Cloth for years. However, they have changed their paper towels so now they are NOTHING like they used to be. They are thin, not soft, and leave an OILY RESIDUE when trying to clean. I had to scrounge up newspaper just to clean my mirrors. This never used to be the case with the old formula. I've seen many other reviews of people expressing their dissatisfaction with the same issues. These are no cloth, these are oily sandpaper. Kimberly Clark made 1.934 billion dollars and they are sacrificing quality now for the sake of another billion dollar profit. You've lost a customer.
Viva obviously jumped on the cost-cutting bandwagon and cut way to many corners on these. They used to be absolute best, softest paper towels available and were perfect for use on even delicate skin. This new version is very rough and less durable than they used to be. In the pictures, you can see the old version (bottom half) and the new version on top of each other. The texture difference is very obvious. With the high price, these aren't worth buying anymore. Please go back to the old method. They were only paper towels of their kind.
New is not better. Why fix what isn't broken. I usually don't write reviews but . . . For years I have bought Viva. For cleaning, kitchen, and face. They were durable AND soft. One of my best memories is the comfort I felt when I had a cold, and a roll of soft Viva next to me as I nursed myself back to health. What set Viva apart from everything else was its versatility. Enough said. Another long time loyal customer gone. I hope you have enough of these comments to realize it was a wrong direction and do something about it. I will check the shelves to see if a great company sees the error of its ways, and gives the public what it wants. Hopefully you won't lose too much money before you figure it out.
What have you done to my paper towels? There are very few things in life I am brand loyal to, but Viva is one. If they're out of Viva I go to another store. I bought a large 6 triple roll pack a few days ago and they are different. Worse. Thin and rough and loosely woven. I might have saved the rather high price i paid and just gotten some generic store brand paper towels, because that is what these feel like. They're awful, and if this is what Viva has become I am officially a (distraught) former customer. There wasn't even any indication on the package that these weren't the same Viva paper towels as usual. I'm sorry, I hate them as much as I loved the old Viva paper yields, which is considerable.
Total scam, instead of mailing the paper towels I ordered they just mailed a letter!
