I highly recommend this Vizio 42" LCD HDTV for anyone who is on the market for this type of TV. This model offers full 1080P HDTV and has many hookups (component, HDMI, etc.) to allow connectivity for all your devices (PS3, DVD, BluRay, XBOX 360, Wii, etc.). After I got this TV home, I had it in the bedroom and playing within 10 minutes. Easy to operate and setup. Great picture, even without HD. This TV will deliver all your HDTV needs for years to come, and the price is excellent.
I've had this TV for a little over 5 months. It is the best buy for the money. I research HD for a year before I purchased this set. The sound in the HD channels is a little weak, but the picture makes up for it. Still for the value, no one can beat the price.
I've had this beauty for about 3 months now, and I've had it connected using just about all of the inputs so far. Using an HDMI cable to connect a Blu-Ray player has produced the best results out of any of the inputs so far, the image is awesomely detailed. Using a VGA cable and connecting a PC is second best. I've had a little trouble with the component input on this TV, and it's the only trouble that I have ran into and it's just a little annoyance. Connecting anything to the component 1 or 2 inputs on this model produces small diagonal moving lines that are visible when viewing pretty much anything, especially solid colors like yellow or white. Right now I also have the TV connected to an antenna that receives digital signals- I have gotten awesome quality with this setting also. No ghosting or motion blur when viewing anything fast-moving on this model, thanks to the fast pixel-response time. Overall, this TV is awesome if you want to upgrade from your old tube-TV.
We looked high and low at LCD flat screen televisions and visited all the upscale electronic stores as well as all the box stores. We had set a budget of $1,200.00 for our new tv and didn't know what we could get for that. We found several very nice tv's that were 1080P's for $1,500.00 to $3,000.00. That was just too much for us to spend. Then we found the Vizio at one of the electronic stores and fell in love with the picture, the look, the clarity and the price. Just in case we came home and I looked up the model on Wal-Mart.com and sure enough it was $200.00 cheaper. Also, we paid to have it delivered to our house as it would not fit in our car and that only cost $30.00 extra. We bought the Vizio 42" 1080P HD LCD TV for $996.00. It was worth every penney and better than lots of TVs priced much higher. Also, Vizio is an American company out of California so most of our money stays in the U.S. This TV is highly recommended!! Go get one now!!
O.k., I am going to lay it down like it is with this product. I have been researching Flatscreen LCD's for about 4 months and decided to purchase the Visio. It is being advertised for $996.00 and I feel it is worth every Dollar. I have a degree in engineering and work in a technical industry so one could say I am at least moderately tech savy. I compared the Visio to 3 other TV's. The Sanyo (Walmart), Insignia (BB), Dynex (BB). They were all 1080P in the 42 in catagory for about the same amount of money. The Visio beat the Insignia and Dynex on all fronts. The Picture quality was noticeably better, Sound was noticeably better, and it had more features than these two. The one area that Best Buy has Walmart beat is in the extended warranty department. An additional 4 year warranty was offered for about $128.00 along with an Accidental damage warranty. I have used BB's warranties before and I like them. I did purchase the Walmart 2 year extended warranty for $58.00 not because I am worried that the TV will die on my but more for peace of mind. I don't know how user friendly it will be if I ever do need to use it. The Visio compared to the Sanyo was a very close comaprison. Pictures look very close as well as sound. I decided to go with the Visio because the visio had a slightly faster refresh rate at 5 ms instead of Sanyo's 8 ms. Also the Visio had more in-ports. The Visio had a higher contrast ratio at 5000:1 as well. For those 1st timers out there, with a LCD, color is important but not as important as it's Black and white contrast abilities. This is what gives you your definition. All in all I have owned the TV for a little more than a week and love it. It seems to be built well and looks like it is of good quality. Some of the other brands just look cheap. the Sound is terrific without a entertainment system. It handles standard definition very well. I upgraded to HD on Dish and will never go back. One important note to first time Flat Screen Buyers. The TV's in the store are basically mounted and turned on. The Visio has picture modes and it is preset to "cool" mode by default. If you are not aware of this when you are looking at them, it appears to have a slightly washed out effect on the picture (bluish tint). It is just a preset mode, I changed this to "Normal" picture mode and the colors were fantastic. Keep this in mind when comparing pictures in the store. TV's always have a default setting which is what they are all probably on.
This set is my first wide screen TV and I had always wanted one to go in my living room since we moved in 2yrs ago. So for the price I decided to go with Vizio and man is this thing sharp in 1080 HD. the picture is really clear, the sound is great but what you would want to do is balance the TV speakers with a surround system to get an even fuller sound with bass. The TV has great highs but poor bass but with a good volume balance with surround speakers sounds great. It doesn't have many features like picture in picture or a fancy remote, but for the price you cant expect to many bells and whistles with a picture that shows as good as it does. Compared to Sony high prices and compared to Samsung and others Vizio rocks. Very stylish, it will boost the image of any room or office, even those with big names Sony and Phillips sets will be jealous of your Vizio, I know the Stock market is. Great price, great picture, good sound, and for a 42" LCD it's also pretty light. Great Buy. Get one you'll see, and you'll be glad you did.
We've had this tv for 2 weeks and it's more than met our expectations. You can't get a 42 inch tv for this price and the pic is real good. No issues at all.
Very Happy with the TV!! It sounds great and looks great! We Have it in our bedroom and have enjoyed it very much!!!
This TV is great for the price paid. I think that the picture is at least comparable if not better than my Dad's 1080P Sharp 46" TV that he paid about twice for. I just have regular cable at this point but amazingly am picking up some digital channels and boy do they look crystal clear! I do wish there were a few more features to play with like setting up favorite channels and quick channel list or something but that is the only con I have found. Very pleased, only had it about a week but couldn't be happier. Took only about 10 minutes to get out of the box and set up. I haven't messed with the HDMI cables or anything at this point, I really don't think you need it. I would recommend this to anyone!
I bought this TV 1 year and 11 days ago, for the first year and 4 days I loved it, great picture i am talking loved it. But on day 369 of my ownership, the TV whisteled and went dead. Vizio will do nothing about this, because it is 4 days out of warranty so do not buy this TV with out getting the Extended warranty!!!
