I explained to my 5-year-old she was too young for the DS because of the hinges breaking, so we got this. We already had all of the games to go with it. She has played it nonstop for 2 weeks. I would suggest you buy the charger though because batteries do not last as long in it.
I got this last year for Christmas for my son and he loves it. I also love that you are able to use the same games for the V-motion. But would recomend getting rechargable batteries for this product.
My title says it all, you will end up a DS anyway. I bought this for my 3 year old girl last Christmas and she loved it. Within a month, the machine started shutting off and I would have to fight with it to get it back on. We replaced the batteries and even bought expensive rechargable ones to no avail. After 5 or 6 months, the machine would only come on for a few seconds and then shut off with fully charged batteries. I have not tried the Leapster, since we just went ahead and got her a DS. This product is a waste of money and you'll end up with a disappointed child when it shuts off and won't come back on.
We have gone through 5 V.Smile's in 4 months. 2 times we exchanged and went to the car to find out it didn't work right then. The other 2 lasted about a month. It would play and then just shut off mid-game. We changed batteries... nothing. We even bought a car adapter. This is a total waste of money. The only reason we keep exchanging is because we've already invested so much money in the games. And our 4 year old daughter loves to play this in the car. Don't waste your money on this product or you will be headed back to the store over and over to exchange it! Very frustrating!!!
