I bought the Vtech Smile Console for my daughter and think it's great,but we recently went on vacation and had a 16hr drive ahead of us. We needed something to keep her occupied along with the puzzels and dvd player. This thing is a life saver and the best part I didn't have to buy more games. It uses the same games as the console uses. I also like the fact that they have games up to 8 years old. My daughter is 4 so she can use it for more than 2 years before getting something else.
We have had this item for about 2 yrs now and my 6yr old and 3 1/2 yr old love this! The only thing I would recommend is that if you have rather young children (like under 3) I would say to buy the regular v smile for now. This is good for kids 3 and over because it plugs into the tv also so they can play it like the regular v smile too. We also bought the charger and the car charger and the charger is a huge $$ saver!! This is a great product and I can't wait for my youngest, and anymore kids we may have, to get the chance to play with this!!
I bought this for my 2 great grandson's, almost 4 and 5 1/2 yrs. old. They loved them. They use the same cartridges as the V-Smile, so that is convenient. They don't need a TV so can be used any where or any time. They opened Xmas and played for hrs, Stopping to play with other toys and coming back to play with them. They used them on the trip home. Makes a great option for driving in traffic, keeping them amused and learning at same time. We had no trouble with them. They say ages 5-7, but our 4 yr, old can play easily. It has no small parts and is fairly solid as can be for type of product. we use with supervision, at least someone in same room.
I think that this was the brightest idea ever. It allows children to have fun and learn at the same time. It not only stops there, you are able to have it on the go!
it is a fun and educational approach to get your kids interested in learning.
My 4 year old daughter loves this product. The only thing I dont like about it is the batteries die way too fast. I think that they should have made it with a rechargable battery. One to two hours on this product and the batteries are dead.
We bought this for our son. We already had the vsmile and tons of games so we thought the vsmile pocket would be great for him. We turned it on for the first time and he started playing it. It turned itself off within minutes and never turned on again. He was very upset. I had read mixed reviews on this product, but thought it wouldn't happen to us. We ended up taking that back and buying the leapster. We had to buy all new games, but it's a much better product.
Within 5 minutes of my daughter playing with this on Christmas morning in our presence it just shut down--went black. We let it sit for a few minutes, my hubby got it back on after a while and it lasted all of 5 minutes again and then the screen went out and it's totally useless. It will be returned tomorrow and I will not buy anything else in this product line--COMPLETE disappointment. I did not purchase it from Walmart--and the site I did purchase it from does not even have it on the website any more-I think this is a problem product and they can have it back for sure!
