I researched around on various units for a portable air compressor and jump starters. After a very extensive review of other competitors and features, I came to the conclusion that this unit had all the features I require, and then some that others did not. I'm very pleased with this unit.
If you use it for a jump start only once, it has paid for itself. Best feature is 110AC power away from any other source. I'm a fisherman & being able to clean fish with an electric knife at any site, developed or not, cuts cleaning time by two thirds. Sportsman, mechanic, auction shopper, etc.YOU NEED THIS!!!
Got it Monday 6/30 & charged it for 48 hours (til wednesday) then tested it and it worked. To be safe I left it charging overnight Friday 7/4. Then took it camping with us Saturday 7/5, and used it all day Saturday 7/5- Monday 7/7. I plugged the air mattress plug into the dc outlet and it pumped up 8 twin and 2 queen size air mattresses. It charged in less than 3 hours (in airplane mode) an iphone and an android to full 100% power (use your regular wall outlet plug for faster charging not usb or car charger). For $98 on walmart.com and delivery in less than 3 days it was worth it. Excellent for camping trips or items that need low power like charging phones, tablets, blowing up air mattresses etc. Makes a little noise but not too loud. Haven't used the car battery jumper. But it has already been worth it. Hope this review helps.
needed a portable source of power for a beach wedding with a microphone and speaker for the audience to hear the ceremony. This worked so well without having to run miles of extension cords. Compressor could be better but all other features are good.
Its a good unit except for 2 things. The air pump hose does not fit in its housing and when I went to open the housing door the handle broke off. 2nd, the inverter fan is loud. I planned to use the unit at night with pet lamps to heat the interior of an RV. Not now. The unit will have to be outside with an extension cord.
The price is good, and it is a decent device. You do need to charge it well before using it, and when it sits it does tend to lose some charge (a bit of a downer if you want to keep it for power outages). Haven't used it to boost yet, but so far the rest of the features work well. I have been able to run my tv and cable box on it to watch shows when I had an outage, and was satisfied.
Jump started car with completely flat battery in 5 secs. All the other features seem to work, have not tested them in depth. Except the work light, seems exceedingly dim for something attached to such a powerful battery. I guess I could just plug in a flood light to the inverter. Over all, with all the built in capabilities I consider it a good buy.
I bought 2 of these. All functions worked on both ( except have not tested jumper cables yet) The only defect was on the bottom of the one of the orange plastic cases, one case had a defect, it was split open at the seam and bulging down a bit making the unit slightly wobbly. The internal battery is sealed separately so I'm keeping it. Wagan said it was safe but did offer to replace it when I called them. But since it doesn't affect it's operation I'm keeping them both.
Not sure how to rate this. It's an awesome idea and I really wanted to own it. It got pretty good reviews so I guess the one I received was defective. I charged it, went to test it, the light was green for less than a second - made a chirp noise and turned red with nothing plugged in. Full charge. I can tell you the radio worked very well as well as the light. I emailed Wagan they said if I shipped it back to them they would replace it. It's pretty heavy though so I returned it at my local Walmart. Bummer.
Plugged in and charged for 36 hours on a Wednesday-Thursday. Took it camping on Friday. Blew up my air mattress (5-10 minutes), went to bed about 1130 turned on my CPAP machine and plugged in a cell phone battery for charging, at 0200 woke up because me CPAP was no longer running...out of power. 2 1/2 to 3 of battery is not going to work.
