Just what I wanted, just what I expected, just what kitty wanted.
First of all, a pat on the back to PlumStruck cause OMG these guys are GREAT! I ordered this on Feb. 27, 2014 and it arrived on March 1, 2014. It wasn't supposed to get here until March 13th!!!!! So wow..... Second of all, this is actually made better than I thought it would be. It also came with this tiny bag of catnip so I consider that an extra bonus. I've only had it 10 minutes now... one cat sat on the base of it like he owned it. Another just sits next to it (for now). It seems to be what I needed so now I just have to see if the cats will use it. I'll have to update on that once I see some action. In the meantime, so far I like it. Oh.... couldn't figure out why the brush part was "loose" when I stuck it into the holes.... then I read the box and found you just have to push gently down on the brush part and it snaps right in. Nice and sturdy.
My only complaint about this item is that the brush cannot be securely fastened to the base.... there are no screws....you just stick the poker ends into holes, which don't go down very deeply, so the brush wobbles. I may end up using industrial-strength glue. I've also trained the cat to use the base for scratching instead of my new rug.
This is a good idea if your cat is used to be brushed. It's soft yet it captures the hair and more importantly it feels good. My cat loves to be brushed. And she is getting used to the new brush. The only thing I have to say when I first put the brush part into the holes it was not very sturdy so I had to glue it with gorilla glue. Now it's not going anywhere.
Purchased this to use in a cattery. So far, none of them seem very interested in it, even with the catnip that came with it. Will apply a stronger catnip and see if that helps, but this is only the second day. Super easy to put together though. Just slide the scratcher into the predrilled holes and you are done!
Product has u-shaped hard bristle brush pushed into wooden board covered with carpet. To be used by cats to rub against. Board is cheap particle board with two holes punched into it. Brush has two very short metal tips that are pushed into the board, with no other securing device. After one day, brush has tipped over and appears ready to fall out. Further use by the cat will most probably cause it to fall over. This is certainly not worth its expensive cost.
For the amount, the arch brush should fit secure in the base. So disappointed, as I've search for months for the perfect self scratching brush for my fur baby! The arch is so wobbly and comes off the base. The plastic knobs that are suppose to hold the arch in do nothing.
Flimsy piece of crap. Cats never use it, and I can't blame them. Poorly crafted which is sad because you don't have to have an education to figure out how this stupid thing is suppose to come together.
I've had one of these before (from a different manufacturer) and my cat loved it. Fast-Forward a few years and I now have a different cat. This cat loves to be rubbed, brushed, and petted so I thought this would be perfect for her. It would be great, IF it stayed together. I purchased this on-line and had it shipped to my home. It comes in 2 pieces (the base and the arch) and it's not difficult to put together. The problem comes when the manufacturer drills the holes in the base too large and the arch won't stay standing. Unfortunately, this is the only grooming arch (at least that I've found) that offers a good bristle-style brush that cats truly love to rub upon. Just know that you will have to do some work to fix the faulty construction by the manufacturer.
This product is a safety hazard my cat's tail was caught on this product and it took hours to get it unwrapped from her being in severe pain I had to cut open my couch because she was trying to hide from the pain
