I bought a wham-o duel racer for a summer party (attendees in their mid-20s). My yard is flat so we bought inner-tubes to help with sliding. Since this is child-sized, it really only holds one grown-up on an inner-tube at a time, but that didn't stop several of the men from racing anyway. Mind you, these were large men all around 6'3" and varying weights. We played with this for several hours at the party as well as the following days, and it has not ripped or been otherwise damaged. I think this is due in large part to using it with innertubes. I bought large innertubes because my yard is kind of rocky (and flat)- the one person who did go down on skin(once) bruised his back badly. I also played "bowling for puppy" with my 27lb dog, by rolling extra stretchy(very difficult to pop) water balloons down the slip-n-slide for her which she chased and brought back and had fun with. I read many reviews on this saying that they ripped easily and decided that i was willing to spend the money just to have it for a few hours at my party whether it ripped or not. Mine, personally- was subjected to rough play for several days and has not torn. We did add dish-soap at the very beginning of play.
Poor design! This thing has the hose coming in at the bottom of the slide, so the water has to go up hill. Not good. We have normal water pressure, but I guess you need 'fire hydrant' level to make this work. The water just barely comes out. The top is just dry since there's not enough water pressure to make the water go up that far. The kids were stepping on the middle to make it squirt out; but that only kept them entertained briefly. No one was sliding. They all just ran away to find something else to play with. Total waste of money! DON'T BUY THIS!
I bought this product the first week in June, expecting it to last the entire summer. My kids, ages 8 & 11, used it twice with their friends and it ripped already! A plastice tarp with baby shampoo (eye safe way of making it slippery) is a much cheaper option!
