Very well pleased overall.
I bought this filter system last year, installed easy, water and ice tastes great.
Works great no leaks! Not a drop after 2 years. Tubing must be cut smooth and square with razor to keep tubing shape. Also wouldn't hurt to support tubing in some fashion so that the fitting isn't supporting the weight of the water line. I used duct tape.
Now going on three years. No drips, No drops, just great filtered clean water going to my ice maker.
I installed this filter in April and was pleased with the ice coming out of my maker, no debris or particles floating in my water as before the installation. I watched it for a few minutes after installing and found no leaks around the fittings as I used a circular cutting tool to cut my nylon hose to length. We went out of country for a month and came back to find a ruined baseboard and ruined (NEW) 15mm flooring underneath the filter. As I looked closely at both 'quick' fittings, I noticed water gathering around both connectors. Not a large leak, but a leak non the less. I have reviewed this item only after speaking with a rep from Whirlpool who advised me that I should take the product back for a refund since I had purchased it within a year; or, he would be happy to send me a new head for the filter. He also advised me that there is no new design to replace the current, obviously botched, design. After reading the reviews from multiple sites, I believe the best option is to avoid Whirlpool all together. I've attached pics in case there's any disbelief. Safe to say with service like this, there won't be another whirlpool product in this or my new home. Can't afford to keep fixing what their products mess up!
I installed this and after a couple of months it started leaking at the insert fittings. Cut the tubing back, re-inserted and it still leaked. Tried again, still leaks. The old version was better that had actual compression fittings. The American way, make things cheaper and charge more money.
I have had this for six months and the inlet side continues to leak. Fortunately it's in the area of our sump pump and the leakage causes a wet floor. I recut the nylon tubing to make sure it is square and no nicks and it doesn't make any difference. I expect Whirlpool has a solution, what is it?
I've had this for about 2 months and no matter how many times I recut the tubbing and install, IT LEAKS!
The installation went smoothly at first - the 1/4" tube snapped right in and fit perfectly on one side and didn't leak, but the other side would not stop dripping no matter how many times I tried re-cutting the tube to try and create a better fit. Had to purchase an entirely different filter.
Two new filters have leaked at fittings. Cheap couplers. Wish it was threaded then I could use good couplers. Trimed reamed poly. And pushed it all the way in.... drip..drip. tryed many times to see if it would seat.
