Works well picks up a couple miles on flat terrain. This is my second day Whistler detector I've owned my first one for 15 yrs and haven't gotten any tickets. This has saved me a lot of money in the long run.
I had one of these till some one stole it out of my truck. It had saved my behind more than once. But then none of us ever run late now do we. I plan on getting another one. It has saved me a lot of money in the long run.
This is the second detector I have owned and I absolutely love it! It does exactly what it needs to do for me now if you're a street racer you probably want to invest into a higher end one it will detect cops and speed traps about a half a mile away I love it
After one too many speeding tickets I started my research. Eventually got to the Wal-Mart page, thought I'd see what they had "in-stock," and this unit came up. Got great ratings and the price was right; in fact, quite a bit less expensive than other items reviewed elsewhere. I have never had a problem returning Wal-Mart items when needed, so I figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a try. Simple set-up, and directions for use were pretty straight-forward. So far I have appreciated its functions and it's gotten me out of potentially tight spots a few times. It's doing what I bought it to do and I understand how it works, so it's been a worthwhile purchase for me.
I drive 60 miles round trip to and from work. I finally broke down and bought me a radar detector because no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to drive the speed limit. The second day of using this radar detector, it went off causing me to slow down. The car behind me that flew past me ended up getting a ticket. Ha! Karma! Anyway, I'd seen all the other high priced radar detectors and just wasn't willing to shell out that kind of cash. All I needed was a simple gadget to let me know when would be a good time to slow down, and that's what I got. It absolutely serves my purpose. Great buy!
Got this item on sale for $28.95, with all different police bands. Good looking radar detector, excellent merchandise for the price and easy to use, only need to adjust ( by bending) the metal mount to fit the contour of my car's windshield. Smart looking radar Caught the first police car yesterday.
This is a lower end Whistler though it covers X , K and KA bands and has a "city" mode that actually works! My twice as expensive big name brand still goes off when a door opens at the grocery store. I do not condone speeding but after avoiding one ticket where the limit dropped suddenly from 55 to 35 this has paid for itself.
Can't beat the price. However, one major issue, detector resets to Highway every time you turn it off. So if you live in a more urban area with lots of sources for false alerts, you will have to reset this unit to "City" every time you turn it on. I returned it to buy a model that retains settings.
I saw the other reviews and this didn't look too bad. I understand the price is cheap so I didn't expect much. But the other day when I was driving and there was a motorcycle police officer with his radar gun out and the thing didn't even beep or do anything that pretty much summed it up for me. I will keep trying to use it but it really only seems to beep when you go buy one of those solar signs that tells your speed. Or certain other things set it off but it doesn't seem to really work.
Stopped working two months after I received the purchase.
