The tulips Carolus Clusius packed in his luggage for the trip back to Holland probably looked a lot like the bulbs we're offering in our Wild Tulip Collection. While these bulbs are not harvested in the wild (all are commercially propagated), they represent examples of tulips you (or Carolus, if he was still around) would find growing in woodlands and mountains throughout the world. Our Wild Tulip Collection contains 4 different species (6 bulbs each): Tulipa clusiana, Tulipa clusiana 'Chrysantha', Tulipa turkestanica, and Tulipa batalinii 'Bronze Charm'. All of these reliable performers are hardy from zones 3 to 8. With proper care they will naturalize, carpeting your garden with early spring color. Wild tulips are an excellent choice for rock gardens, wooded borders, or along the edge of a winding garden path. Remember, these are small bulbs so for the best show plant them in large drifts or clumps.
