In the past, I have only used straight wire wheels on my angle grinder. I was building homemade forge and I had a lot of grinding to do. I bought this product to try it out, and I am SOO VERY SATIFIED with it. It took off rust almost instantaneously. I had a section of large diameter pipe with two layers of plasticized coating that I had been using my grinding attachement to take off. I switched to this wire wheel and it came off in half of the time. Great product.
I liked that i could use this with my drill to scrape off some paint. However, the battery for my drill died quicker than i needed it for so that was a hassle (unrelated to actual product). It will only go in one direction, the other direction would undo the wiring. I only used the harder one, not the finer bristle one since i am removing paint. Dry paint is easier to clean (but risking lead), wet paint a little more difficult to clean off the bristles but better for dealing with lead.
I ordered these to help de-rust my car. my car has a lot of rust so i though id buy a cheaper option so if the wires started to come off, it was no big deal. two solid days later, and not a single wire has broken off or bent, and my car has never looked better. same goes for my sisters rotors...NICE AND SHINY :)
These things are insanely heavy duty! I ordered them hoping to find something to clean my fiberglass shower basin. The steel one is a little too heavy duty. The brass one does the job fantastic! I just couldnt use it with a drill because its built so sturty! I can use it by hand to get stuff that hadnt been removed in like 10 years!
I am refinishing some very old metal Adirondack chairs and over the years many layer of paint were put on them. I put the wire wheel on my angle grinder and just after a short while I was down to a clean metal.surface The wire wheel works great and I would recommend it to anyone needing a product to strip off paint and surface corrosion off a piece of metal.
Works great for removing rust and paint, but mine feels unbalanced, maybe it got smooshed in shipping and now the wires are a little out of line. Not a bit deal, but when its at full speed its noticable and you have to work much harder to stay in control of your tool. Normally I can operate my grinder for an hour, but because of the unbalance my hands give out after a few minutes, 5 tops. Would try a fresh wheel to see if it was a fluke, otherwise if thats how they all operate its too much to try working thru
I used these wire brushes in my drill to quickly remove surface rust from a spare tire and underneath my wifes aging Sub. The copper wires tend to break off as you apply too much pressure, but its far superior than trying to do this by hand. Would buy again when the need arises.
Worked well for the few minutes I ran it. Found out the cup was being deformed when I went to remove it. Had a horrible time getting it loose.Turns out I really have to pay attention to max rpm specs. Its 8500 rpm max and my grinder tool turns 11,000. My screw-up, took off some serious rust ,what I did.
Ive been using this to remove flaking paint from my garage door. It does a good job.Im giving it four stars because from time to a wire comes out of the brush and sticks into my clothes. It is normal wear and tear I suppose but Id rather not have those pieces sticking in my clothes when Im finished.It takes the paint off of my garage door pretty well.I have COPD so I get tired easily but this does get the paint off without too much effort on my part.
I put it on my angle grinder and it came off the first time. Now its stuck on and I cant get it off. I saw someone else had this problem. In all honesty its probably my fault. And it hits my guard so I think its too big. Regardless it works so I gave it 3 stars.
