Great value and works great I have split wood that was 36" round with no issues, great product, and does an awesome job, no mess, no noise, no gas, oil, or no-starts to deal with, I highly recommend this product.
Well made machine - exactly as advertised and not made in China.
XtremepowerUS Heavy Duty 12-Ton Hydraulic Log Splitter was just what we needed to be able to split the logs we buy for firewood. The splitter is made in the USA of steel %26 should have a long work life. It's simple to operate. Even senior citizens can use it without extending too much effort. The price was fair %26 the product seems to be well made. Best of all no electricity or gasoline are necessary...just people power!
Everything works as advertised. I was very pleased at the amount of wood I could split. Definitely no bigger than 8" round. I would stick to 6" as not to over stress the machine.
we used this product right outof the box. It worked great. Splits pine, aspen, even narrow pieces of cedar. A little effort pumping the hydraulic jack splits 'em neatly. Not really much more effort than a gas or electric splitter. This device makes splitting fast and easy. Use a dolly to move it.
The box was mildly beaten up, but no oil stains, so no concerns. There was a bolted on metal brace protecting the relief valve handle that needed to be removed before use (easy job) and then it was ready to go. The only con I've encountered is common to every splitter of this type: the wheels are heavy-duty but tiny dolly type wheels that are only suitable for rolling on a hard smooth surface like a driveway or walkway. I use mine in the driveway, but you can put an axle and proper cart tires on it for about $20 in HF parts. Several Youtube videos are available on that. As to performance, I've not encountered a round that I couldn't split. I'm 70 and weight 145. I'm glad I got this 12-ton unit instead of one of the 10-ton competitors: I've had several knot-ridden rounds that had me using all the leverage I could to get the last pump that popped the split. It's fairly priced, a little above a 10-ton competitor and well below the trendy name brand.
The log splitter worked great, I ordered the splitter on a Monday and it showed up the very next day, Bery satisfied.
It has performed admirably. My only desire is for it to accommodate a broader range of acceptable log sizes; it's quite easy to cut logs that are either too long or too short for effective splitting with this tool.
Good quality, well packed. Maximum 8" diameter specification limits its usefulness to logs that would likely be more efficiently split with a maul. Seems tough or heavily knotted pieces threaten to twist the business end of the ram sideways. I'll keep it, but probably won't be using it much.
I received this log splitter late in the day by Fed X. It failed due to poor engineering. The supplier indicated the 60 day warranty was up, but it was only expired less than 12 hours. They would not give me a new log splitter or money back. That doesn't say much of customer satisfaction. So, based on integrity I rate this product and supplier very negatively.
