Great model for creating a lot of different items. This also has laser engraving which is a nice touch. It's small but mighty, and also comes with wireless and mobile printing capability. I also like that you can preview your items on the LCD screen and make adjustments before printing. I'm writing this review as a part of a contest.
Perfect for those that want to get a relatively nice 3D printer without breaking the bank. It's really easy to use, and the laser engraving capability is a great touch. There's also a lot more things one can make with these than I had initially thought, and I always look forward to finding new 3D printing item to experiment! Overall, I would definitely recommend! Unit was packaged very well, everything was in the box. Took it out, connected it up, and immediately started printing successfully. Have done numerous prints over the last week. Very good dimensional accuracy, and the prints look great. An now using PETG for stronger prints. Used default settings, and prints are great.
3D printers can do amazing things - just about every field benefiting from the onset of 3D printing and now you can too, even in your own home. This XYZprinting da Vinci 3D Printer is about as "pro"-sumer a 3D printer you can get. The upgradable laser engraver and ability to set micron thickness really enables a lot of creativity. At this price point, a great gift for yourself or the tech hobbyist in your family. Tons of 3D printable models are readily available online, so the potential is endless. I'm a hobbyist (RC Drones & Planes mostly) and wanted a 3D Printer to support my hobby. I read reviews and watched a ton of YouTube videos and thought this would be a good printer to get, especially when it was on sale earlier. Let me tell you this printer has greatly exceeded my expectations! However, like ANY 3D Printer, you'll be expected to learn, tweak, make mistakes but then improve on them. There is no such thing as a turnkey 3D Printer but for the average consumer, I'd say this is the closest thing you'll get to that. Highly recommend!
The printer works surprisingly well for its cheap price, and it can do both ABS and PLA which is great. It also has a laser engraver available to purchase for $199. The laser engraving details looks pretty good from the website! So far so good and can't wait to explore the full potential of this 3D printer!
Even at the non sale price, this 3d printer is the best value for a already built out of the box ready to print 3d printer. You basically take it out of the box, remove all the packing materials, install the software, calibrate it and print. You will get a printed get started quick guide to help you through the setup. On the included cd is the software and the detailed users guide. My only suggestion is to buy some elmers washable school glue sticks. They aid in getting the prints to stay stuck to the print bed while printing.
It was very easy to get started on printing. Would have given it 5 stars but it can't print abrasive materials like carbon fiber or metals. Most printers all you have to do is get a new nozzle, the Da Vinci Pro has a proprietary nozzle and can't be replaced and XYZpritning don't make one for that model.
software is trash takes 10+ mins to upload a 20MB file to the printer useing usb. It has a "special feature" where it cancels your build if it the printer is paused for more than 3 mins. If any door is ajar you cannot use the menu and the senors for the doors are trash. There is no option to change filaments mid print. if you are willing to deal with that then it actually prints just as well as any printer. all and all i put more time into this rant than the designers did thinking on how someone would use there product.
I purchased this for my grandson for Christmas. We spent a week trying to get it to work. We watched all the videos and called tech support many times. They would not return it because it had been more then 30 days even though it was a Christmas gift. I would not recommend this product or anything from this company. They are not very consumer friendly and do not stand behind their product. I now have a 300 dollar paperweight!
