I've liked all of Zatarain's mixes. However, I do like the rice version of Jambalaya over this pasta based one. I added shrimp, andouille sausage and ham to it. It is so very tasty and greatly shortens what could be a long prep time for this dish. I'd be proud to serve this to the most discerning diner.
I fix this Jambalaya dinner mix with low fat hamburger instill of chicken and sausages. My husband loved it and season it even more with the cayenne pepper I had. He likes really spicy hot food. I loved the taste of this dinner and it was quick and easy to fix. I am sure you will enjoy it no matter what meat you use.
The Jambalaya turned out just like in the picture on the box. I followed the instructions and it turned out very delicious. I loved the seasoning mostly not too salty, not too spicy. Great for lunch or dinner meals. Best Jambalaya I've had so far! In my entire life. I savored the flavors taste.
I love Jambalaya!!!! And I love the zest that Zatarain's offer in all their foods. This was something I was excited to try with family and friends that love for me to cook dirty rice. I just cut up some turkey sausage links and cooked it within. This meal was lean and low in fat, very tasty and will definitely be on my grocery's list for the next time I do my shopping at Walmart. I love Walmart's prices, so I really don't like to get my box creations from anywhere else.
This was new for us. We usually get the jambalaya that has the rice. My daughter doesn't like it and usually spits it out. She was apprehensive about trying this, but agreed because of the noodles instead of rice. We used pepperoni as our meat. She nibbled her first bite and then her eyebrows shot up..."Mom, this tastes really good!" I wish I had taken a picture of my husband eating his. He ate like he was afraid someone was about to take it away from him...super fast. He said, "this one tastes better, start buying this one!" It was much easier to prepare as well. This only took about 20 minutes total to prep, cook, and cool.
Another Good Product From Zatarains. It Had The Flavor Of Jambalaya But A Slight Bit Too Watery For My Liking. A Very Minor Point Though. Mixed In Breast Of Chicken. It Was Fantastic With The Added Chicken. I Seemed To Like It More Than My Wife. She Said It Was Not Spicy Enough. I Have Found That All Zatarains Products To Be Consistent With The New Orleans Flavor. Have Been A Big Fan Of All The Other Products. Now I Can Add Another to The List. I Have Found The 2 Pasta Dishes I Have Tried In This Survey To Be A Fine Addition To Your Line.
This jambalaya dinner mix was a little different than the usual jambalaya I have become accustomed to. Never had this with pasta, usually I have eaten it with rice. Actually it was a nice change. The difference in texture was surprisingly good. I love trying new dishes and this was one of the better ones I have tried. We used sausage in the preparation. The spice was well chosen for this mix. Traditionally when this is made at our house we do it all from scratch and this was a welcome change with no skimping on the flavor. We will be definitely using this product again and I would recommend it to family.
I like New Orleans food. I have been there for Mardi Gras five different years and I always enjoyed the Jambalaya. However, I do still prefer it with rice over the pasta version but the pasta version is still pretty good. It was really ease to make. The only ingrediants are meat, oil or Pam to cook the meat, 2 cups of water and the mix. It all cooks in the same pan and you do not need to drain or anything. It is just my personal preferance that I would have rather have rice over pasta. It is kind of like a hamburger helper for sausage or chicken. It would probably be even better with both and maybe even some shrimp.
Zatarain's New Orleans Style Jambalaya Pasta Dinner Mix, 6.7 oz . this is not a side dish but a dinner starter. you can use chicken for chicken jambalaya or shrimp for shrimp jambalaya or sausage for sausage jambalaya . I used Andouille sausage. I guess you could get creative and use all three or a combination of the three. it takes about five minutes for preparation about 25 minutes cooking time. makes five one cup servings. my son and I just split it for lunch. makes a fast meal. easy to make . easy to read instructions. you need one box of Zatarain's New Orleans Style Jambalaya Pasta Dinner Mix, 6.7 oz, one tablespoon of oil, two cups of water and one pound of the meat or meats you want to use. the first thing I liked about this product is that when I opened the box all the contents were inside a sealed pouch, not loose in the box getting stale or sticking to glue inside the box during the packaging process. when I opened the package I could smell the seasoning nice and fresh and I knew that this meal would have a good flavor to it. the meal came out fine very favorable. my son and I enjoyed a nice lunch and I plan to buy this again and try different variations of it or other varieties of ZATARAINS dinner mixes. a box or two in the cupboard will be nice for an easy - fast-- thoughtless meal that has flavor.
Zatarain's Jambalaya can be prepared with smoked sausage, cooked chicken, ham or shrimp. I made it with chicken and my family truly enjoyed it. They did say they would like it to be a little spicier but that of course is personal choice. Next time I will opt for the sausage. There's no saturated or trans fat ~ another plus. This was so very easy to make and the best part, for me, was only one pan needed to be used for the whole meal so easy clean up. The only thing needed, besides what's in the box, is the meat that's chosen, oil and water. The entire dish is made and ready to be eaten in 30 minutes. This is so easy, a teenager can definitely help out with making a meal. Now, the box does say that there are 5 servings and that is true if you are using their measurement of 1/2 cup. Problem with that is that it tastes too good that no one in my house wants to stop at 1/2 a cup! So, if using as a side dish, 1/2 cup would be a decent amount. If you're using this as a lunch or dinner you will need to plan to use more.
