While this camera is made for outdoor use, it works just as well indoors. We have it set up in our grandson's play room. It makes it easy to monitor him without being right there. He can have his "independence" without being out of touch,
While I haven't had a chance to install outside, I have set up the camera to test WiFi connectivity and picture quality. The picture quality is amazing. I currently have it set up to 2.4 GHz and I'm not sure if the picture better with 5 GHz, but I think it would be. Make sure to read the install instructions carefully before you begin and I did have to set up my camera near my router for it to work but then was able to move my camera further away. I have it set up to alert me with a notification anytime at the text movement and it works both on my Samsung phone and my iPad. So far I am really impressed. The picture I am attaching is in the dark with no light so you can see how bright of a picture it will give you at night. With light the colors look bright and rich.
This dual band camera is easy to set up. Since it uses your wifi, you only need to mount the camera and plug it into an electrical outlet. The power cord is only 4' long, so you might need an extension cord. You can view the picture on your computer, laptop, tablet, or phone. The picture is crisp and clear. The night vision is also good. This camera will work in the snow and rain. This camera is designed to record to the cloud, so after the free trial, you will have to purchase cloud space.

The camera works great! Super good picture quality with no pause in video streaming. Night vision is really good also. The only down side t this product is the app. It's hard to work it when you're not home. The app needs to be updated. It's a little slow and sometimes it freezes.
This Zmodo 1080p Full HD Wireless Security Camera System appears to be a good security device. The camera is sturdy and seems like it would deliver as advertised. First of all, the ZMODO APP [photo of first page of APP is posted] has to be downloaded in order to do the installation. It is a bit complicated, at least it was for me. To make certain I'm following the instructions, I also went online to that -TUBE site to get a demonstration of how it is done. I followed the steps to a tee but was unable to get the camera to function. All this said, I will give it another try to see what happens. In addition, a trial CLOUD service is offered for a monthly fee following a limited free trial period. Overall, I'm certain the Zmodo 1080p Full HD Wireless Security Camera System, Dual Band 5GHz/2.4GHz, 98ft Night Vision, 96° Wide Viewing Angle would be a good choice for a security system.
When I received the wireless security camera system, I was excited. It was beautifully packaged, very high quality product and little to no paper work or instrtuctions. My problems came when I had to download the app Zmodo. From this point on, I started to have problems. The app was difficult for me to download...tried several times. I did get to a point where it requested I go to my settings and download a specific WiFi setting. I kept trying to get this specific wifi connection to work but it was not successful. I kept trying but for some reason, I could not get this security camera system to work. I would also say that the instructions could have been more user friendly...I found them difficult to follow but I am sure that once I could figure out how to properly download the app and wifi I would be happy with the results. Just make sure you are savvy at following directions.
I'm a little disappointed. The Zmodo 1080p Full HD Wireless Security Camera System, Dual Band 5GHz/2.4GHz, 98ft Night Vision, 96° Wide Viewing Angle is nothing what I thought it was. I already own a home security camera that is way better and superior than this. I probably won't use it out side. I thought wireless meant it didn't need to be hardwired in to electricity. First of all, the Quick Start guide goes a little too quick past some instructions. It's confusing trying to sign up to the Zmodo app. You're supposed to get an activation code texted to you and for me...it always came after the countdown expired. I had to request a code 3 more times before it actually just let me login. There are no indicator lights whatsoever on the unit. The camera viewing area is stationary. I do not like not having the ability to zoom in and out and move from left to right, or up and down. As far as the picture, it seems to look good in color or night vision. You can change the light sensitivity and the frame rate, and it has an SD and HD picture option. I do also like the fact that you get app notifications when there is motion detected, and it shows you a short video of what was going on when it was detected. What I don't understand, is that it only records for like 10 seconds. In my opinion. bottom line is that it's an OK camera but there are way better out there.
This outdoor camera has too many negatives for me to be able to use. I plugged in the camera near my router. There is no on-off switch, but the camera glowed red. I downloaded the Zmodo free app from the APP store and then attempted to connect to my Wi-Fi router. It would not connect. I double-checked my password, but it still did not connect. There are instructions that I may have to improve my WiFi strength, and I could visit the Zmodo website for support. I have several other devices that work OK with my router, so I was perplexed. The instructions indicate that the device can be set up with a Zmodo Beam. I brought the camera to my brother's house because he has a booster on his router. He was able to connect to the app. Then we brought the camera outside the house, but the connection broke. Upon reading the directions, there are instructions not to place the camera where concrete, cement, and metal stand between the camera and the router. My brother has aluminum siding. The only place we could mount the camera to avoid interference was in front of the door, but you have to plug the camera into an outlet, and it only has a (barely) 5-foot wire. This would not reach the outlet in front of the house. At this point, we gave up and I boxed up the camera.
I got this camera system as a upgrade to my old System that records to a DVR thinking the recordings would be safe on "the cloud" from theft if my DVR was stolen as i wouldn't have the recording to view or hand over to the police. 1st problem was it wants you to download a App on your apple or android cell phone and you can't add devices going through your PC. You can only view cameras once they are added to your account. The next problem was i could never add the camera's. After adding my router WiFi name and password, the cameras would never connect even after meeting the requirements of not having your 2.4GHz WPA/WPA2 network "hidden" and a upload speed of 2Mbps and a 4Mbps for Zmodo cloud service.The quick start guide is lacking and has 2 instructions, One for adding to a "Beam" if you have it, the other, a mobile setup so this is not PC friendly security system which was what i was hoping for, not just for viewing on my cell phone. Support was terrible on Zmodo site.Live chat was a endless loop of logging on and the phone number is not a 800. After several hours on 2 weekends, i gave up.
