As bold and grim as that statement may be, here Nothingface back it up by assembling a well crafted and at times complex collection of material for their third album. If the band took its name from the classic Voivod album, the connection ends right there; you won't find any quirky sci-fi epics here. VIOLENCE is packed with rhythmic intricacies, and vocals that range from melodic (think Page Hamilton of Helmet) to bellowing screams (think Chuck Billy of Testament). This beauty-meets-brutality approach is clearly the band's formula, and it suits them well. While legions of new metal bands scurry for fame, Nothingface continue to affirm strong foundations with VIOLENCE.
