Thompson's WaterSeal Waterproofer Plus Semi-Transparent Wood Stain, Nutmeg Brown, 1 Gallon

Definitely needed 2 coats—one was splotchy/uneven. Can't speak on the longevity of the product (we just applied it a few days ago) but, the semi-transparent Natural Cedar is super orange. Like Clemson Tigers orange. I've been told it doesn't look bad but, it was definitely not the look I was going for, especially having a blue door and shutters…and Halloween :/

Spend days prepping and applying this stain last spring only to have every horizontal surface of my deck look like complete garbage after one winter. Disappointed doesn't even describe it. Was hoping to at least get a couple years out of it. Looks terrible.

Did my covered porch after 10 years looks like new. Used the left over from 10 years ago. bought some to finish just about had a fit cause looked so different in color but it worked fine.

This was recommended to me by a contractor I know. I have always heard great things about it. Put it on both of my decks in September after making sure I would use it correctly. In March it all came off over a couple of rainy days. Pieces that chipped off stuck to the siding. I contacted Thompson directly and told them how I prepped the wood, etc. Their reply was, "Sorry it didn't work out for me." No questions or tips about what I should have or could have done differently. Disappointing.

Love this semi-transparent color - warm wood - and a good water seal too. Lasts a year or longer with 2 coats. Can use clear coat over 2 coats for longer protection.
