KitchenAid - 1.4 Cu. Ft. Built-In Trash Compactor - Stainless Steel

We purchased a new home and we wanted a trash compactor... We have never had one before. It has changed how you look at trash. It makes life easier and you have less waste. You can go for 3 weeks without changing the bag. It also is a wonderful thing, because you recycle more. We love our new trash compactor and we would recommend it to all our friends and family.

I bought this a month ago and just love the look, goes with my kitchenaide oven,microwave and dishwasher. My old one scraped my wood floor every time I opened and closed it. They were able to use the lifts on the bottom of compactor so it wouldn't drag. Works great and is quite. The fan is a little loud but if don't have to keep it on all the time. You can also add a scented pad behind vent and it makes the bad smells go away.

This is a nice compactor that really looks very sharp -- we like the handle. The only thing that we don't like is that the handle is so prominent that everyone wants to pull it - and in fact the way to open is to press on the foot bar. So, it's a bit misleading to have such a strong signal to open something and a big pull on that could do damage to the compactor.

We replaced our old KitchenAid after 26 years. This one matched the design of the rest of our appliances. I have to say the petal at the bottom takes some getting used too. You need to find it in order to crush the trash. But with that said. This one is quieter than our original. It's working great. Plus, the stainless steel is lovely.

I purchased this compactor a month ago and I am so pleased with its operation! I had owned a compactor for about 20 years and never a problem then in 2010 we moved into new home and had another make compactor that was terrible. It ended being very costly before finally purchasing this new KitchenAid!
