In 1969 UP received the EMD DDA40X, a dual-engined, 6,600-horsepower road locomotive. They were dubbed the Centennials in honor of the 100th anniversary of the completion of the first Transcontinental Railroad. This model features a factory-installed dual-mode DCC decoder that operates on DCC and standard DC layouts, two skew-wound motors, each with a pair of flywheels, 12-wheel drive, constant and directional LED headlights, RP-25 wheels, lightly weathered air intakes and E-Z Mate(R) Mark II couplers.
