Brother XL2600I 25-Stitch Free-Arm Sewing Machine

The machine is great. I have sewn all my life, and am now teaching my granddaughter. It offers more stitches than my machines. I find the directions leave something to be desired. Also, It would be nice to know where to buy bobbins and supplies for Brother machines without having to google or call all around the town.

We purchased this sewing machine for our granddaughters who are just learning to sew and love it. This was an excellent value with lots of features which would have been fantastic for their creative minds. The price was excellent as this model was being replaced with another model. BUT there was a problem with the tension right from the start. Even following the directions, we could never get the stitching right as the tension just would not adjust correctly. Returned the machine and will look for another model.

I bought this sewing machine for mending and alterations. I have been using it for about one month now and it has performed beyond my expectations. This machine has more features than I will ever use and the price was right. It was easy for me to set up and start using. I had no problems with the tension as others have reported, and I love the needle threader. I think it helped that I had quite a bit of previous experience with sewing machines (although the last model I had was about 40 years old). It may be a little more difficult for a total beginner to start using.

Replaced my singer sewing machine with this Brother 2600i. Great value and well engineered machine. Easy to set up and auto threader is awesome! Like magic if you ever tried to thread a needle manually. Sewing is quick and a pleasure compared to my old singer which due to mechanical problems developed made sewing a nightmare! I did quickly learn that you need to start sewing relatively slowly . If you press to hard on the pedal when starting the thread in the needle breaks.

it's light weight yet sturdy, easy to use but i would not recommend for a beginner, you need to keep your eye on the plastic bobbin cover as it is clear and thin, and has the potential to break easily. it can and does sew through thick material, such as jeans, I did a lot of investigating, before i decided on this machine, I am glad i picked this one, I have yet to use all it's fictions, but i am sure this machine will keep me busy for a long time
