Suction cups did not hold on 55+ condo "small" bathroom tiles. Home Health Care said to have professionally Installed grab bars securely drilled into the walls and to return the suction-cup bars that were not holding.
I tried it in the bathroom with a tub/shower arrangement. The tiles are too small so the grips do not fit directly on the tile. In that instance the safety bar would not even stay on. In my walk-in shower the grips are placed directly on the tile, the snaps open up. To use it I put it on the shower wall then take it off when finished showering. Although the plastic seems sturdy, I'm afraid the bar will break as it keeps falling onto the tile floor.
Upon opening I did notice a slight ripple in the rubber that goes against the wall but figured it would flatten out when affixed to the wall, which it seemed to do. But I found it very difficult to get a good seal and it didn't hold the seal as long as the other end. It's effectiveness as a hand hold support was therefore compromised. I bought a mommy's helper safer grip that was about the same size and cost at another website two years ago and it is still working well. I will replace this with the other one now that I know they are not all the same.
I was worried that this may not stick to the shower wall, but it has proved to be very strong & stable. I recently had major back surgery and was feeling unstable on my feet and needed something to hang onto while entering and exiting the shower. This product has been extremely helpful and I am thinking about getting another one to place on the other side of the shower.
I'm not sure if it works or not, because where it would attach to on the top of the tub rim, isn't wide enough for the bar to attach to, so you'd need to measure the top of your tub to see if it the tub rim is wide enough for it to stick to. I have an old house and the wall around my tub is the old style vinyl moisture proof sheet vinyl they used years ago, and the bar would not stick to it. I don't know if it would stick to tile or not.
