I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina and up a 3 mile gravel road that gets allot of ice, snow, rain, mud, and any combination you can imagine. I would not have any tire but the Michelin for durability and traction and overall dependability .
I have been a dedicated Michelin guy for several decades!! They always provide excellent handling and braking - and long wear. These Cross Terrain tires certainly have lived up to my expectations (and prior experience with Michelin!). Strictly using these tires for on-the-road driving, I have found that they are great! Finally, they provide a comfortable ride - coupled with my confidence in the safety of the product. The only 'problem' is that some folks have said that these tires look like truck tires - but what the dickens?? They are on a SUV, for crying out loud!!! Love 'em!!!
The Michelin Cross Terrain SUV Tires on my wife's 2010 Ford Explorer, Limited, make the ride in the vehicle seem like you are driving something much bigger. The tires are an outstanding example of craftsmanship and attention to detail. The white raised letters add a nice touch of class to the vehicle and also clearly broadcast the Michelin name which is recognized throughout the industry as being the leader. The vehicle has a much better appearance, ride and confidence with the Cross Terrains on it. I wouldn't buy anything else. Piece of mind is huge in buying a tire as your family and life are both riding on them.
I have owned two sets of Cross Terrain SUV tires and they are fantastic! The first set I had on a Chevy Tahoe and put approximately 90K miles on the set of tires before they needed replacing. I live in an area with heavy road traffic and stop and go driving. They have very good handeling and braking to deal with this type of driving. I also like to get off road occasionally and have been in quite varied terrain (sand, snow, mud, rock, etc.) and they performed well in every situation.
I purchased my Mercury as a used vehicle. It had Michlin tires on, There were 80,000 miles when I replaced my tires.Could have driven more but was going to snow country and wanted to be safe. I like the fact that it is a quiet ride, no humming from the road. I prefer the radio to do the humming
