I bought two of these thinking it was like a user mistake when the first one snapped in half but nope. Really really weak. Neither one lasted more than a week.
The gate was beautiful when I received it, but the function of locking and unlocking was a pain. It could definitely use a second lock to ensure the wood could not crack easily under the pressure. It did indeed crack on me. If you don't plan on removing this each day or every few days it should be OK. But the latch becomes more difficult to use with each use.
This gate looks so much better in my farmhouse than a regular baby gate. The black plastic mesh is much better made than other reviews state, and the black plastic hardware is also stronger than reviews state. The latch is tricky. Also, I thought I was ordering a 4 pack but there is only one gate in the order. Too good to be true, but Ill still be ordering another. Good gate, strong, dogs and strong determined escape artist kid approved.
This gate it very cheap and will do a significant amount of damage to any wall if a child were to bang on it or knock it down. Also, the stoppers on each side do not line up properly with most woodwork aligned on the base of a wall. Because of the way the wood liner juts out from the wall, the floor pressure points do not line up with the upper pressure points and therefore the gate cannot be installed properly.
Got 2 gates for my new lhasa apso puppy. I first thought the walls had to be flush in order to use it but not true like the other reviews. You just have to adjust the top or bottom accordingly. I have molding throughout my house and this works at the bottom of the stairs and in the kitchen and walk ways. It even hold up to my dog thinking he is Evil Knevil!
