The chair is nice, but the directions to put it together are awful. No detail at all on the instructions. The holes for the rocker pieces and the brace pieces aren't pre-drilled so it's hard to get the rocker pieces even. Also, I understand why some of the pieces are cracked, but they shouldn't have cracked off pieces when assembling.

I left a one-star review before (with the headline Misaligned Parts) before I was finally able to reach Lakeland Mills and talk to someone. I can't edit the old review so I'm posting a new one. The parts were only misaligned because the legs needed to be moved apart. I didn't realize that the dowels aren't glued in place, so if you have trouble with fitting the legs into the holes on the seat, use a rubber mallet or a hammer with a wood block to knock them apart. Like some other folks noted, there are a lot of splinters on some of the wooden pieces, so you may want to have a file and sandpaper on hand. Also, most of the holes aren't pre-drilled, and for that reason, be really careful when you drill (or use a punch awl to make) the holes into the legs so you can attach the rockers. You need to get the rockers low enough that the chair will actually rock. Some of the reviews state that the chairs wouldn't rock, and that can happen if you don't get the lower edge of the rockers past the lowest point of the legs.

I don't know if Lakeland MIlls mixed in a part from another one of its chairs that has a different width than this one, but the pegs on the seat back are much too close together to fit into the holes on the seat, so the chair can't be assembled. I contacted Lakeland Mills and hope they can send one new part (without making me send the one I have to them) and that they won't force me to return the entire chair. I really wanted to get this put together and get the box/parts out of my way, but it looks like it will take some time before I can. Apparently no one did a quick check of the pieces before they were boxed together.

We had three of the same log rocking chair, which we purchased about 15 years ago (from Carl's in Riverhead, NY). We wanted a fourth. They are on our front porch, so if we (my husband and I) have two guests, now we can all sit on the porch. It is a beautiful, comfortable rocking chair, and very durable, but a little difficult to assemble. My husband needed his drill and his set of socket wrenches. It took him about three hours. But we are very happy with it.

I bought this rocker with the matching table for my son and daughter-in-law for their second wedding anniversary. They loved it so much that I had to order another one the next day! This chairs ROCKS! lol The neighbor even came over and wanted to know where they got it. So, you may have more new customers!!
