Planet Earth: The Complete Series (Blu-ray)

After MUCH research I thought I found the format of Planet Earth on blu ray in 1080p, as I had heard the 1080i versions were not as good. None of the websites will tell you which version is formatted in 1080p and which are actually 1080i. When I received this, I was disappointed to learn it is the 1080i format. However, the picture quality is still exceptional!

I read a lot of positve reviews about this so my expectations were pretty high. I got the BBC version that some say is 1080 P; it's not. It is 1080i, same as the Discovery version. Not bad, but not great. I'd say the same for the sound. I paid $39.00, which is a pretty good value for what you get. I don't think I would pay full price at $80.00.

These Blu- ray DVDs are wonderful! The picture is so clear & viewing the wild animals in their natural surroundings is an amazing photographic feat! It had to take hours & hours of patience to capture these movies! Now we have hours & hours of exciting footage to view!

not all blu ray discs out were shot in 1080 full HD. all old movies are just upconvert 1080i. alot of new tv shows are still 720p HD but planet earth...you will make full use of the blu ray player. incredible show, the quality and the resolution is unmatchable. got it for 40 bucks blackfriday while everywhere else it's atleast double that. if you find it for 40 bucks, it's well worth it.

Some of the scenery is breathtaking and it will show you views of earth like you've probably never seen before. On a different note, most of it is in hi def(1080p) but some of it only looks like DVD, and although I like nature and I find it all to be beautiful(except for the animals eating each other) for some reason, this always puts me to sleep. I don't know if it's the announcer or the peaceful nature scenes, but it'll put me to sleep in a half hour almost guaranteed.
