Product Details

For years the market for fast-acting effervescent vitamin-C drink mixes has been dominated by one familiar brand: Emergen-C . Now, Swanson Ultra(R) is changing the game with our 1,000 mg Energy C with Electrolytes featuring advanced Transport-C PLUS(R) and none of the sugar or artificial ingredients. With Energy C you get the same energizing nutrition, improved by science, at a low Swanson price. Transport-C PLUS combines ascorbic acid with alpha lipoic acid to reduce the loss of active vitamin C caused by oxidation as it enters the bloodstream. Alpha lipoic acid, itself a powerful antioxidant, actually regenerates oxidized vitamin C to keep it working over a longer period of time. The Transport-C PLUS complex is designed to enhance antioxidant activity, prolong vitamin C's benefits and facilitate more rapid, complete cellular uptake. With a full profile of electrolytes and supporting nutrients--including 200 mg of potassium--plus a touch of stevia for sweetness, Energy C is a high-value alternative to other energizing vitamin C drink mixes.

An effervescent vitamin C drink mix with great citrus flavor Compare to the active ingredients in Emergen-C Energy C delivers 1,000 mg of vitamin C with a whole host of other energizing nutrients 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE - Our products reflect our commitment to giving you the best quality and service at the best price. Yes, I know the main sweetener is stevia, but are there any calories? I can't find that data on the label. If it is too sweet for you, just double the water. Seriously, it is pretty darn good. It has most of the things suggested for high altitude hiking, too.

I don't know why this gives me so much energy, emergen-c never did. The flavor is good, only thing is, I do have to keep stirring it to keep it from settling on the bottom of the glass. If I drank it all down at once, this wouldn't be an issue, but I don't, so I just keep a stirrer in the glass until I'm through. \nI'm hooked!

This is a good product, but it needs a bit of work to be a great product. I was happy with the price and convenience of the packaging, but there are several factors that made this one hard to love.First, the grind of the powder is too coarse. I use a ceramic mug at work the majority of the time for my vitamin supplements, and this never fully dissolves. It leaves small dark grey bits at the bottom, and very coarse residue sticking to the sides that has the same texture as sandpaper if it happens to dry. I can't be sure that I'm getting all of the benefits of this powder if so much is being left behind - even with constant stirring.Second, something in the powder mixture has an oily residue. I'm not sure if it's from whatever is used for the color (which is completely unnecessary), or if there's something else that does this. Once water is added to this, the residue clings to whatever I'm using to stir it. It doesn't stick to the sides of the mug, but I've tried plastic knives, wooden stir-sticks, and metal silverware - all of them have a sticky, oily residue on them afterwards.Things I liked: I really like the tangerine flavor. It's different enough from the major brands, and slightly stronger so that it doesn't really get weak unless you absolutely have to mix it into a giant bottle of water. The price is also much more reasonable, and the packaging is perfect. Unfortunately, neither of these factors could overcome the two major sticking-points for me. I really do like this product, but it's not the same quality and value that I've come to expect from Swanson with their other supplements. This could absolutely be a great product with some improvements. But for now I'm going to stick with the name-brands.

As a serious and avid cyclist, this has become my go-to electrolyte mix. Most commercial products are loaded with sugars, which needlessly spike blood glucose levels instead of keeping levels constant for optimum performance without glucose crashes -- especially during endurance events. If you properly manage the balance between carbs and fats in your diet for energy output, the glucose spikes offered by typical electrolyte drinks are unnecessary and this is why I use Swanson's Ultra - because it effectively replenishes electrolytes without the deleterious effects of adding tons of sugar. I also find the orange flavor relatively palatable compared to other similar products. The Stevia sugar substitute for which some reviewers have expressed concern is NOT an artificial sweetener (on par with Aspartame or Splenda) as a few have claimed. It is a natural plant substance extracted from the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana. It can have up to 150 times the sweetness of sugar, but does not raise blood glucose levels. Some studies, however, indicate that it can possibly cause an insulin response, speculatively based on the brain's perception of it as a sweet substance.
