Mainstays Color Flexible Cutting Mat

I bought these to replace 2 that I had for years from i**a. I thought they would be comparable but they are not. These are VERY thin, yes they are flexible but while chopping or cutting up veggies my knives go right into the mat. I still use them bc I would never buy them again.

These are so useful...back for more as we change them out from time to time. We use each for a different service. Red for cutti n g chicken only...veggies on the green one and whatever on the orange.

This is my first purchase for a flexible cutting mat and I am very disappointed. I guess you get what you pay for. Mats slide all over my laminate countertops which almost made it a disaster. The whole apple I was trying to cut slid all over the mat and the mat slid all over the countertop causing the knife to slip off the apple. The mat revealed deep knife marks because the mat is not thick enough. Needless to say, these mats are going in the donation box.

I have been buying these cutting mats for years and absolutely love them. I just bought a new set and learned a very painful lesson and want to share a warning with others. As I was using the red one this morning to cut vegetables for a soup, the mat became stuck to the counter from water that had leaked underneath. I lifted one corner of the mat and slid my finger along the edge to break the suction. The next thing I knew, there was blood everywhere! The edge of the mat had sliced my finger from knuckle to tip! It was a very fine cut, like a paper cut, and has been throbbing and sore ever since. I just want to pass along a WARNING to others to avoid sliding their fingers along the edge of these mats. They are a great product and I will continue to buy them, but they do have a slight safety issue.

Use this on top of wood board when cutting meats and poultry to keeps meats juices from soaking into the wood. Also use them for chopping vegetables because the mat will bend so veggies don't spill when pouring into pot. Cleanup is easier than wood since I can just put them into dishwater to wash. Don't take up much storage space either. Very convenient.
