Patricia Matelasse Bedspread, Ivory

Our set is very pretty in sage. The material is a good thickness and quality for this coverlet, and wider and longer than I have ever seen being sold for king beds. I threw it in the washing machine on the gentle cycle [cold wash with Dreft detergent;dried it on gentle also; a separate cycle for the shams (wash & dry)] touched them up with a warm iron and it is simple but elegant. We also have an ivory down comforter that I fold at the base of the bed and ivory accent pillows. The coverlet fits to way past the bottom of our very thick king mattress. So glad our sheets no longer show! It is a bit too long tho; wish they used that material to make it a bit wider so it was longer on the sides and came down to the floor like at the base of the bed [it comes to approx. half way down our dust ruffle which is still great; have to tuck quite a bit in behind the pillows; will be cutting some off and using it to make bolster pillows]. You can't beat the price! Another minor con is that the stitching was done a little carelessly on some of the shams [I ordered 6 for a King bed but really only need 4; will keep the extra 2 seeing the shams will probably get worn faster being washed more often cause we use them to prop for reading or watching TV. The border around the edges wasn't stitched neatly at the same width all around on some of the shams, but could be easily fixed if you sew. It's a bit time consuming to iron the shams because you have to pull out the edges to the stitching, because they curl inward, but it is worth it to take your time to do this and to press all the folds out of the entire set. This bedspread is a deal and a half. It is a great value and perfect. I wanted a lightweight bedspread as our summers can get to be 118 deg. This one looks nice and is the perfect weight--thin. We can sleep with it and our sheet. Plus I have 2 mini doxies that sleep on the bed. The youngest has a habbit of scratching things and has appeared as if she were trying to dig to China. I would have expected that there would be snags in it after I caught her, but you can't even tell she was digging. The color is definitely sage. My husband and I are thrilled with this purchase.

Based on reviews it was pretty much as expected - a lightweight, attractive spread. It did snag on the underside when it was washed and dried by itself on low temps, but I was able to cut the long threads of the snags and pull out the puckers. It looks fine on the bed in my guest room. Given the low price, I felt it was a good value, but I would not recommend it for rough use by children or frequent washings.

I love this bedspread. It is the perfect summer weight and looks wonderful on the bed with the shams (which I also bought). The color is true to the picture online. My mom bought one in blue and really likes it, too. I haven't washed it yet, but am hoping that since it is polyester that it won't shrink or lose it's shape. But, so far so good!

I don't think you can find a better value than this. So inexpensive and yet the material is very nice looking. A really good value. I have it on a king size bed with a 2" foam topper and the bedspread does not reach the floor but that is fine with me.
