I was surprised and disappointed to find that the back of this bookcase is nothing more than cardboard. Sauder usually produces very good quality furniture. I suppose for the price the bookcase is still a good deal, just not what I had expected.
Impressed with the finish on the bookshelf and good value. We bought two and use and love them both! Heavy enough so a toddler can't pull it over. Holds LOTS of books/stuff.
For the very inexpensive price, these bookshelves do not look cheap. The color is beautiful! And they are easy to put together. I also highly recommend the site to store shipping option - it was a breeze.
I was able to put this together with only a little help from my son-in-law. He tightened the screws. It was good value for the price. I am 77 years young and think I did pretty good.
Item arrived damaged in several places. I would have returned it, but it was too much trouble and luckily it is going in a closet where nobody will see it. It is also not all that sturdy. I always have bad luck with mail order furniture. I give up!
