Man, I really do want to love this phone. It has an extremely good camera (imo, better than any other except the s22U and now iphone 14 pro max), great performance, screen, and looks great. I loved my S6 from a few years ago so I thought I'd love this as much. But... Battery life is biggest complaint. It's bad right out of the box. I'm scared for how bad it will be after a year or two of usage. I can only make it through the day with low use. My work around is to keep it in power saving mode at all times. That helps a ton and battery is fine, but there are moments I can tell it isn't performing as high because it's in that mode. Second, audio volume doesn't go as high as my old S6 or my wife's iphone XR. And you better believe I've looked and enabled every setting I can find to increase it (including developer options stuff). It's just not as loud. For most people who don't like blasting music, you probably won't care, but this is honestly a huge con for me, especially in my car. I read a thread that they cheeped out on the audio amp or something? That sounds so stupid for a flagship phone if it's true. Of course, no headphone jack sucks and I am here to complain. Everyone said it's no big deal, you'll just get used to bluetooth/dongle, etc. But nah, it sucks. Especially because battery life is low. I've had a few times I had to choose between charging OR listening to music. And no I don't want to have to ALSO carry around a double dongle. And yes, I DO have wireless headphones, but I don't like using them all that much, plus I have to worry about keeping them charged too. I just bought this 4 months ago, but I'm already back on the market looking for something better. Maybe the new Sony 5 IV or Asus phone? Tbh I'm even considering iphone 14 max bc of how incredibly well rounded it is, but I really don't want to switch to IOS (plus, still no headphone jack lol). Hate to give the s22 a 3/5 stars, but that's its reality.
I've never been so let down by a new-generation phone. From it's frustrating interface to its intermittent connectivity issues, it's been nothing but a headache that I've wished I could still return. The performance on the phone would be fantastic if it could keep a steady connection. As it is, I have connectivity issues on every app that I use for longer than 10 minutes. Be it a game, a streaming service, or social media. There are solutions on the internet for this problem, but it started during the first WEEK I've had the phone. Not only this, but you should NOT have to factory reset a phone within the first 4 months of having it. This wasn't necessarily a deal-breaker, but the camera was a disappointment as well. It boasts such fantastic specs, but the pictures themselves come out with poor quality rivaling the generation of phone that came out 7 years ago. While not as important to me personally, it's still frustrating that I ultimately did not get what I paid for. A final point on the matters that make me want to chuck this phone against a wall on a weekly basis is the inaccurate biometrics. Good lord if you do not have your finger aligned exactly right with the prompt, it will not work. If you do not press with the exact degree of force it requires, it will not work. It was not two weeks before one of the fingerprints I registered stopped unlocking the phone completely and had to be re-done. All in all, this phone wasn't even worth the trade-in with AT&T and I wish I could have my busted, broken, S7 Active back because its worth as an item of nostalgia is still far better than this as a functioning phone. If you're looking for a new phone, I promise you can find a phone with better all-around value for likely the same price (if not less).
I bought my S22 Ultra three days ago and realized after only one day that I should have listened when I was advised not to purchase this phone as yet (until the various issues were resolved). I regret not taking that advice. The battery power is not good and I had to charge two to three times a day, even after fully charging the day I bought it. Today, I will just leave the phone on the charger; that's less stress. My other issue is that it takes quite a while to send text messages and even LONGER to send just one picture. Unless folks are in desperate need and really want this S22 Ultra phone (no matter what), I think it is better to wait a little while before purchasing.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the phone for about 2 weeks now. The first thing that caught my attention was how crisp and clear the display is. Everyday I look at it and am still impressed by it. I've already dropped the phone too on a wooden floor. Not a single scratch or crack. Very durable. It also seems to get better cell signal overall. I'm very happy with this phone.
It has definitely upgraded the camera to something way better like night mode and the zoom to see the moon; I love that. Everything else is as good as it was except the biggest downside and the highest annoyance; they took away the led indicator to show that he have a text waiting. It will flash once received but if you weren't on your phone or couldn't hear the notification, then there is no repeated light signal to show you have something waiting to be seen. That's a major flaw when you work in a noisy factory. I can not longer glance at my closed screen to see if there's an important response to a text for me, I literally have to unlock the screen to see a tiny notification icon at the top of the screen. Camera flash does me no good as it only flashes the one time when you receive a text and I don't tend to put my phone face down as it will scratch the screen. So for all the updates, then taking that one thing away aggravated me the most and makes me miss my S8+.
