Sony PlayStation 3 - Game console - 40 GB HDD - black

Well that's what you would have heard me say a month ago if you ask me if I was going to buy a PS3 to watch movies on. I am a purest at heart when it comes to electronics, especially when it comes to video systems for my home. After doing a lot of research I found that PS3 had some of the highest ratings for playing blu-ray movies and that's what I was looking to do. When I checked at the local chain stores for a player I found that one did have a player for $10.00 less than the PS3, but the PS3 came with a $30.00 movie. After talking it over with my wife I caved and got my first multitasker for my home video system. We watcher our first blu-ray that night on a Sanyo LCD 720p screen. It was amazing everything that I heard about blu-ray was correct. We then put a normal DVD in the system and watched it. The up scaling that it did to the movie was almost like watching another blu-ray movie. It cleaned up the DVD's image like I would never had expected. The next day I bought a blue tooth remote control for it, so I could use it like a normal video player. The instructions could be better on how to pair the unit and the on screen prompts could be better also when pairing. I can't give an opinion on the gaming capabilities of the system. The system only comes with one controller and a short cord. I'm a little old to be setting in the floor in front of the TV. I've ordered 2 blue tooth remotes for the system when they get here I give the gaming a try.

I have wanted the PS3 for quite some time. I bought this over Christmas break and have to say that it is the best investment I have made since i bought the PS2. If you are worried about the amount of games, don't worry because the graphics are so amazing that it keeps you hooked for hours. Also there is a playstation store if you hook up your PS to the internet that allows you to buy games and play them right away from home. It doesn't burn up like the Xbox 360. I have played this for up to 6 hours straight and it has no effect on the gamepley. Also some of the games that are avaliable to buy over the internet are motion sensored, just like the Wii. So all in all, you are buying three game consols plus a Blu-ray player, with amazing graphics all in one, for a lower price!

i thought you could play playstation 2 games on it and you cant

I bought the PS3 for my boyfriend. I gave it to him early, Thank god. He tried playing his PS2 games on it but realized that only the 80gig plays the PS2 games. So we wenand returned it to buy the 80gig one. The graphics are awesome and the wireless control can be programed to certian games so you can stear car games like you would with a wii controler!!! Its so much fun to play! If you plan on buying a PS3 and you want to be able to play your old PS2 games make sure you buy an 80 gig one!!!

Folks this system is the only system Sony is going to make. It seems the right thing to do. Price point, and the fact it is a Blu-ray player is great. Who cares about PS2 games not being able to play on this system. Keep your PS2 and play them that way. Now that the PS3 has more and more quality and quantity of games, there is no need in my opinion to go to the past in games. The potential of the PS3 is unlimited.
