AcuRite Pro 5-in-1 Weather Station with HD Display and Lightning Detector

The weather station I bought is not hooked up yet. It is for my son for Christmas. I received a weather station last Christmas and it has been great. False wind speed is the biggest issue. Unless you can mount it 50 feet up the speed will always be off. Nothing to do about that.

This is my second one of these, Hail took out the first one that was over 5 years old. Weather station works perfect, but the lightning detector is really a non-factor. Detects lightning but isn't accurate on distance, nor does it keep an accurate count on strikes. Doesn't detect lightning closer than 5 miles. contacted support with no reply. Surprised?

However, this is pur third unit in less than 5 years. Spent $35 for part and postage on last unit at Acu rite advise and it did not solve issues. New unit was only about $10 more then Acu rites next recommendation. Love the unit just not reliability or response to poor reliability. Scott Vaitones

Easy to install. Can't stop looking at the wind and direction display. The other information display is also very interesting. The lightning detector finally got activated and has been listening the past 24 hours. It is amazing the amount of lighting strikes and the distance that it sensed. Also the rain gauge is getting a workout the past 24 hours.

This is the third Iris 5-in-1 I've purchased. Two of the units were gifts to family members. We all are happy with the units. i have had to recalibrate a few times and I replaced a component damaged in a storm last year. I personally would prefer being able to speak to a customer service person when looking for information as opposed to online only contact.
