Well I am in a very hot climate and the A/C in my house doesn't cool the entire house very well. I put this Portable AC in my room and it works like a champ. It was very easy to set up and very east to use. I have used this product for several months now and
This unit works really well. It helps to cool my space in a short amount of time. The only problem I have had is the remote control went out after a week. I have to contact the company and see if I can get a replacement. Other than that, it's a great product and I have recommended it to several people. They have since bought their own and love it as well.
I bought this to cool an upstairs room that wouldn't easily accomodate a window unit. The installation wasn't too tricky, although you do need to know what you are doing. The unit is quite peppy, if a little noisy, but I don't think it's any more noisy than anything else out there (in my price range, anyway). My only complaint is that the included remote was faulty - would work for a few minutes and then stop, as if the batteries weren't charged (but they were brand new). Went through a dozen sets of batteries with the same results. Eventually had to get a replacement remote from customer service. They were nice, but they really dragged their feet - needed me to mail (not fax) a copy of my receipt, etc. and then process paperwork, and finally send out a remote. The remote couldn't cost more than $5 to make, so I don't know why they couldn't send it out while they were waiting on my paperwork - I would have been much happier. The thing is, the unit does NOT work without a remote. You can turn it ON/OFF manually, but you can't adjust the temperature, so it's useless. Note that this unit runs constantly when on. If the desired temperature has been reached, it just cycles air over and over. I don't really like that - I'd prefer that it could idle or sleep once the room was cool enough. That would be less noisy and more energy efficient. However, I'm currently just closing the door at night and running the unit for 5-10 minutes to cool the room before turning it off and going to sleep. I'm not convinced that this thing was worth the cost, but at least it's easier to uninstall and take with me when I move than a window unit.
This is an innovative design with some attractive features. It is a 'hands free' system that does not require the user to be constantly filling OR emptying water from the machine. I find the dehumidify mode to be very useful. It has remote control and a built in timer which are extremely convienient as well. I wish Haier made a similar unit of larger capacity for the same price. I really need an 11,000 BTU unit for my 250 Sq Ft bedroom; but this 7000 BTU unit is still able to keep me comfortable and cool. On very hot afternoons the temperature does creep up a few degress, however. Maybe I will buy another and run them both on hot days. The unit seems to be well built, relatively quiet, and very portable, all features that were important to me. I would reccommend it to anyone with a small to medium sized room to cool. (150 sq ft manufacturers reccomendation)
Haven't had much of a chance to give it a true test as the weather has been too cool, but it assembled with ease, was easy to mount in the window, and is blowing lots of cold air. I can also add that it is attractive, easy to move around and easy to insert and replace the window kit. So far so good.
