Power Wheels Red Ford Mustang 12-Volt Battery-Powered Ride-On

I've wanted to buy my sons a Power Wheel for a -long- time. I had a Power Wheel when I was a kid and I remembered it being so much fun and I felt so cool driving my own car. My sons are now 4 and almost 2 so I thought it might be time. My 2 year old is -obsessed- with cars (anything with wheels, really), and my 4 year old always climbs in the Power Wheels when we go to toy stores. The problem? We live in California, where our backyards are small and I was very worried that our kids would have nowhere to ride their car. My husband is from Michigan and is used to acres of land; it was a big hesitation on our part and so I went back and forth about whether we should purchase them a Power Wheel. In the end, I ended up not only ended up purchasing one, but I purchased two. I made sure to purchase a smaller 2 person Power Wheel (the mustang) because I wanted them to ride on the sidewalk and I wasn't sure that the dune buggies and other larger cars would fit. Also, I knew that I wanted an authentic Power Wheel and not another brand (I was really adamant on this part). So we narrowed it down to this Mustang. I'm typing this review on my laptop where I don't have photos saved (I'll add some if I can come back to this review on my cell phone and add photos) but their expressions on Christmas morning were priceless. They immediately wanted to take it out for a drive (thankfully, we knew to charge the battery well ahead of time). And thus it began - our daily 1.5 hour drives. Initially, we drove it on the sidewalk to the local park, but then we started venturing a lot further out since we have a nice long trail that goes miles and miles from the park (which is wonderful because there's only walkers, runners, and bicyclists on the path). Let me tell you .. I cannot keep up with this thing. Admittedly, I'm not in great shape since I never exercise, but chasing this thing at 5 mph for over an hour exhausted me every day and so after our 2 hour treks (45 minutes to the park, half an hour of play and then 45 minutes back), all three of us would nap for 3 hours. My 2 year old LOVES it. He fiddles with the radio and drapes one arm over the side and he looks so cool. My 4 year old puts on his sunglasses and at one point, stopped to say, "Mom ! I really, really, really love this toy from Santa ! I love it !" (why didn't I take credit for this one ?). It's been five days now and we've driven this thing every day at their insistence (it rained today and they were devastated). The hood of the car pops up quite easily. It's not to the point where it obstructs their view so it doesn't really bother me, though I do end up clicking it back into place quite often only to have it pop up again. I'm quite impressed though at what a great driver my 4 year old is (hopefully he's still as good at 16, and my 2 year old is already getting used to my 4 year old's driving, I guess). Also, I don't know if it's the vibration of the road or what, but my kids are always TIRED after riding this thing. My 2 year old actually fell asleep in it on our way home yesterday (poor guy), and maybe it's being anxious with his brother's driving ? on my 2 year old's part and having to stay vigilant on my 4 year old's part, but they always arrive at home ready to nap even though they spent most of the time in the car and not actually running around. Okay, this has turned into a novel. I love this purchase. I'm looking towards purchasing another one ! I do wish this thing could hold me or drag me in the back though .. my legs are sore. :) This is the best purchase I've made for them to date, and I've bought them a lot, lot, lot of toys. On a side note, I almost want to purchase additional batteries and keep them in my backpack so we can have longer adventures.

We bought this for our grand-daughter 7th birthday it is perfect for her age. She hoped in the car her little brother 3 fit pertly in the other seat and drove off. Has sea belts too. Really pleased.

Instead of buying a definite boy truck or pink Barbie or princess jeep, we went with something they both can play with. Much better compromise. It is a very cute two seater.

It's great my niece is riding all around the yard! Works well on grass! She loves it!
