DuraTrel Estate 58" x 94" White Vinyl Fan Trellis

Saw this trellis on Hayneedle and thought it would look good with the type of home I have and for my ""Don Wan"" climbing rose bush. It makes both look good Don has starting climbing and hope it reaches the top of trellis. The trellis wasn't easy for me to get together by my self , but with some patience and a rubber mallet it came together pretty quickly. Would recommend this product to beautify your home with climbers of any kind. So glad I found it on Hayneedle where the price was reasonable Warm Regards , Janice

It definitely will help to have four people to put this together. It's kind of like assembling a dinosaur kit. Push in one piece and something pops out on the other side. Once it's together, though, it's sturdy and attractive. Far better than the stuff you see at ""home improvement"" centers. (P.S. You'll a highly specialized star bit to drive the screws. Instructions say nothing about that as a I recall.)

This is a review for the second of these we've purchased. We like the first one so much (after a challenging assembly ....) that we decided to get a second. Its height is wonderful, along with its solidity. The other side of that coin is that you do have connect it properly to a wall since it's heavy. Nothing like it available at the ""home centers"" where the tallest are around 6' and their structures are far less secure. This will likely last many years.

This is a great looking trellis and is easy to put together. Study the instructions and layout all of the pieces on a flat surface, organize by size. The horizontal pieces are cut out for the vertical pieces to pass through, some of them are cut out on one side only to act as a stop for the vertical pieces, make sure the cut out side is facing the top of the trellis during assembly. I am withholding a star because the wall mounting hardware falls short of providing what you need to mount the trellis to a wall. Walls are made of masonry. The provided screws are for wood. If you want to mount your trellis to a wall, take the screws with you to your local hardware store and match them up with some plastic masonry anchor inserts and drill bit. The screws use a #25 Torx driver. You will also need some PVC or super glue for the top spires and end caps. The provided hardware also provides you with 2"" long spacer tubes to hold the trellis away from the wall and decorative covers for the screws.

Putting this thing together is like playing a game of twister. The instructions make it look as the cross pieces will stand up straight and make it easy to connect the sides. Not so. You will need at least one extra pair of hands since parts tip, resist and force you to loosen previously connected pieces. The most annoying bit was the lack of detail in the instructions about how to put the long, #10 screw together. You absolutely do need to use the washer/cap holder since without it the screw drives right through the outer hole - we had work to get the screw out, then attach the washer (flat side down) so that the screw would not go through again. Wish they had warned us.
