Sunbeam Cool Mist Humidifier (SCM1746-UM)

Though it has a much better design water tank cap than the previous years, the speed control has changed from the normal low, medium, high settings into a difficult to turn control with settings of high, really high, and you'll be landing in Minneapolis in 20 minutes.

What does this do really?? I've had it for about 2 weeks. The mist is supposedly invisible but I honestly think this machine does not humidify anything. It's just a huge fan blowing. If you like white noise, this is for you. The fan blows up toward the ceiling.

It's basically a fan with water. The needle that tell to to replace the filter stays on change or in the red. The water tank is nice and easy to fill but the humidifier doesn't humidify the water so it doesn't matter how nice the take is. I have mine running in a small bedroom. I've had it running for almost 8 hours and the water level hasn't moved where my other units are at least down a quarter to half tank down. The settings for the fan has 1-2-3, loud-louder-and can't hear the tv or other people. The humidity has low-high but all it is, is air holes in the middle of the filter you can open and close. It really is just a cylinder filter sitting on a small bank of water with a fan on top. Really disappointed as I have a older different model of Holmes that I like and that's why I chose this one regardless of reviews. No big deal though, Walmart's return is a easy process and I'll just get a different brand. I hope this review helps you. It may work for others but I'm just not getting any humidity from the unit.

This works well for a small room. No white on walls or furniture as the filter catches it all. I have never had a problem with mold and I have used this type of humidifier for years. I have to refill the tank every 24 hours on low. Sound is like white noise. No problem with sleeping near it.

The plunger on the water canister is very poorly made. When the humidifier arrived we filled the canister with water. When we placed it on the humidifier, the seal came off the plunger and the water did not come out. The seal was returned to its proper place and the water was able to dispense. We had this happen again recently, so we had to glue the seal to the plunger. We are disappointed with the quality of the new humidifier. We had one previously and it served us well for many years.
