Abreva Docosanol 10% Cream Pump, FDA Approved Treatment for Cold Sore/Fever Blister, 2 grams

I have used Abreva in the tube packaging over the years but when I saw the pump version I thought it would be a better delivery system. I am disappointed. The plunger on the pump is not a smooth process. You have to press hard to get it to work and when it does you get too much Abreva. My suggestion is to stay with the tube version where you can control the amount you actually need. It's too expensive to waste product.

i started using this when i first felt "the tingle" up until i had a break out. i was trying so hard to prevent it, and using abreva everyday but i broke out anyways. you can really tell its working because it makes your damaged lips feel numb and icy . you can really feel it working. mine went to scab stage in 2.5 days which is the last stage. if youre not treating with abreva you are going to have a cold sore for weeks!

Abreva didn't work I've been using it a week now and it's only made it bigger and not better. The blisters won't go away it's not even looking any better . I used this Hispanic cream someone recommended and it's done a better job in one day then Abreva did in a whole week.

I started getting cold sores when I was 11. I tried prescription medicines which shortened the duration of my cold sore but made it even more painful. I tried Abreva and was blown away. As soon as I feel any swelling, I start using Abreva (even if it turns out to be nothing more than dry, aggravated skin) 9/10 times it ends up being a cold sore and treating it before I even see blisters greatly reduceds the healing time. I am in the healing stage of my cold sore right now (day 5) Had I not started treating my cold sore, day 5 would normally be the ulceration stage. Not only does Abreva reduce the amount of time it takes to heal but seems to stop the cold sore from becoming larger. When I use Abreva, the sore gets no bigger than it is during the swelling stage (without Abreva, the sore usually doubles in size compared to the swelling stage.) It also greatly reduced the amount of pain associated with the sore.

Abreva works well. Unfortunately, my pharmacy only carries the pump which is an absolute joke. There is only a tiny amount of product in it and most of that is wasted by dispensing too much with each pump action. Then, because there was almost nothing in the pump to begin with, you are done.
