So far so good! Looks great, seems very strong, easily rolls up. I only have two small complaints. First, when you buy the version for the Rambox they do not provide you with a large strip of rubber sealant as seen in the video. Rather they give you 4 small pieces in two different sizes. They are not labled as to which rubber piece goes towards the front of the truck and which goes to the back. I guessed and once I reached the end of my set up realized I guessed wrong. Now there is a small gap at the back of my truck where the rubber strip isn't quite long enough. The second complaint, which isn't so much a complaint as much as a request...perhaps making a better instructional video for Dodges with Rambox installation would be great!
I happen to see this cover on another truck so I wrote down the name to check it out. I'm glad I did, it went on nice and is easy to use. I had a different brand w/a metal frame that was awkward if I had to carry anything in the back and this one is so much nicer, less expensive, I'm very pleased.
The installation with the provided clamps on our Nissan Frontier was not easy nor satisfactory. The clamps did not hold well and were prone to slipping off. The instructions tell you to move the clamps up or down to get the side rails parallel to the tail gate but this was impossible because of a lip on the truck body interfered with moving the clamps. After much frustration I ended up drilling holes in the side rails and truck rail they mount to and securing with stainless steel sheet metal screws. This finally resulted in a secure and level installation. Previously I had bought one of these covers for my Tacoma and had no problems. In this case there were no clamps. Bolts were provided that fit into existing bolt holes on the truck and it was easy. Maybe the difficulty with clamps only happens with Frontiers, I don't know but it certainly is not a good mounting system for out truck. The quality of the cover and appearance is 1st rate
This cover installed easily - 2 people are recommended (one to hold the side rails while the other tightens the clamps. You may want to re-check the tightness of the clamps after a day or two. Also, make sure the cover is adjusted to have a good amount of tension on it. As-is, out of the box, it is set to be a little loose, so be sure to adjust it so it doesn't pool water when it rains. This model has three aluminum bows. It arrived within a few days of ordering (ordered on Monday, arrived on Thursday). My only concern with this cover is that there is an area on either side of the bed (approx. 3 inches) where the side rails for the cover do not contact the inside edge bed - this is due to the fact that the surface on the side of the Dakota bed that the side rails clamp to is not the widest part of the inside edge of the bed - the last three inches of the bed, just before the tailgate, is about 1/4" wider on either side. It's not much of an issue, as some tape or weather stripping can easily fill that gap. The end of the cover that's closest to the back of the cab uses a fabric seal just like the end at the tailgate. This seal isn't bad, but I noticed that I could see daylight at the corners of the bed. Other reviews of this cover mentioned using some weather stripping or tape in these spots, and I did that as well. After a heavy rain storm that came shortly after installing the cover, there was only a very small amount of water in the corners of the bed by the cab (although, on my Dakota, there are two small holes stamped into the back vertical side of the bed at the corners, so the water could've come in there.) I was a little concerned that the height of this cover (advertised as 1.5" above the bed) wouldn't look good on the Dakota, but it actually does look very nice. Rolling the cover up is easy - I like this cover much more than my previous one, which used buttons/snaps and was horrible to take on/off, especially in cold weather. Overall, I really like this cover. I would recommend this cover to friends.
I bought this tonneau cover to replace my old snap on cover that got destroyed in a wind storm. I wanted a cover that would lock in place and couldn't easily be ripped loose in heavy weather. I also wanted a cover that I didn't need to remove completely to use the bed of the pick-up to haul large items. This cover met all my requirements. Super easy to install, clean low profile look and just rolls out of the way for hauling. Great product!
