Adequately sized backup battery to power and protect a computer, printer, and monitor in the event of local power outages due to storms or errant utility work. A must for a home office. The only downside is that when it starts to fail (they typically last 3-5 years), it doesn't always give the periodic beep. In which case, it will still work as a surge protector, but without the backup battery. I've owned five of these, and two of the last three did not produce a beep to alert of impending battery failure - and they were only 3 years old. For the price, I think they should last longer.
Although this particular Uninterruptible Power Supply (BN450M) does not have the typical battery that is easily user replaceable (battery is accessed by sliding door), the cost of replacement battery is about ½ the cost of entire new UPS unit; to me, the downtime %26 effort to buy and then change-out the battery was not worth it so I bought a new unit instead.
We have random, multiple “power blinks“ quite frequently in my neighborhood. I work remotely from home and give presentations or facilitate meetings daily. When this happens, my computer drops the VPN connection and I lose connection with my company's network. It takes 10 - 15 minutes to wait for the internet to power back up and then get my computer logged back in. Sometimes these “blinks” occur in succession a few times. It is terribly frustrating and inconvenient for not only me, but the others I'm meeting with. I got this UPS and easily set it up. It works like a surge protector, so you plug it in the wall and plugs electronics in. The other day during a bad storm, the power went completely out four times. My TV, computer, and monitors stayed on and I was so happy! I'm going to get others as power banks for extended outages to power my phone and other small necessities! I highly recommend this product!
This is a great until if you need a small uncomplicated battery backup. Please note you can not use Powerchute with this model or the more expensive model Walmart also sells but it is not a dealbreaker, just know that this won't help your PC shut itself down automatically if the back up runs down. Device does switch over super fast and lasts a good bit of time. I only have a mini pc and a hard drive plugged in along with my printer and the entire thing recently stayed up for almost 2 hours during a power outage with no issues.
I ordered two units, one is fine, the other arrived with the seal broken. It looked like it was already used. So I returned it. The other is working fine.
