Received a review product with two units in 2018, which went through many software iterations. The mesh was revolutionary and served our house well. But, after trying to add a 2nd satellite - resetting the unit many times, and paying for the additional support, I am basically back down to one unit. The Arris servers are more-often-than-not unable to be connected to and cannot sustainably manage network options. I would be cautious about whether this unit really works before investing in making this your sole in-home wifi solution. I wanted to like it and still want to but can't recommend it. Once you're out of warranty you may have to pay for service and there's no guarantee that service will be able to get your devices online/working. Beware.
I just bought it & wifi is very unstable. Keep disconnecting. I wouldn't recommended to pay for something at this price & worse than my cheap wifi.
Dont do it. The fact that you cannot use a WIRED CONNECTION to change the settings in your router is atrocious. Also the fact that you cannot change DHCP settings or manage who and what is on your network and kick/remove it is super annoying. No VPN management settings? REALLY? are you aware of your demographic here? o you seriously have any clue who is actually paying for your equipment? Sure SOME consumers here and there. But MOST people buying this type of EXPENSIVE equipment are enterprise users who want the best and most from their networking equipment. Not some terrible low budget app with low budget settings. If you're going to offer these types of budget settings. You need to start charging budget prices. Sure the performance is good. But at what cost of control? This is the saddest example of listening to your customers. Give us the options we want and NEED!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a great addition for the WiFi in my house. Faster speeds than my original wireless router. It wasn't too difficult to set up. My only downfall is, I seem to have a lot of connectivity issues. It seems to go down more frequently than my wireless router. For the price, I'd feel it should be error free.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not an internet genius or technical specialist. I just want fast internet across every room of my house and yard, and the ability to add, block, and remove devices from my network. And this mesh system from ARRIS, does the trick, and for that I am satisfied. The setup is relatively simple, and I had no problems, but you do have to hop on the internet to finish the process, so definitely have a smartphone with data to jump on to complete everything. The speed is much better than I hoped or expected, and I've experienced no dead spots. My devices connect easily and stay connected, which was a problem on my old system. Steaming video at different ends of the house is no longer an iffy proposition, and I don't have to tell everyone to get off the internet when I have massive uploads to do (as a requirement of my work). This used to be a frustrating process, with me suspecting devices of hogging the internet when I needed to get work done, but I'm suspicious no more. Everyone in the family is happier with this system. All my varied devices have connected and remained so, from phones, tablets, televisions, and gaming systems. This was simple and sound, and a once and for all task. No more getting kicked off and reconnecting in a tedious cycle. The app isn't bursting with options, but again, I'm not super technical so I'm not interested in how things work in the system, nor am I wanting to fine tune devices, I just want fast internet everywhere. And that's what the ARRIS Surfboard Max system gives me. No fuss, no muss. Too, I like the look of the units. They are sleek and modern, and I don't mind seeing them in the different parts of my house. Do recommend.
