Back Care Yoga

The product seemed like it had a great deal of material, unfortunately, my copy was damaged. It skipped a great deal and would not play certain content. It was very disappointing. I have purchased a fair amount from Gaiam and am usually very happy with the products but I was definitely upset about this one. Makes me hesitant to purchase other DVD's.

This is a very relaxing way to help improve tension in your back muscles.  It could be helpful for anyone who wants to release tension in their bodies.  There is also a section for Strength and Flexibility; a beginner version that is sufficient for those new to Yoga.  I would prefer that the DVD stop automatically after each segment (i.e. Exploration, Strength & Flexibility, and Restoration), instead of flowing into the next segment.  However, you can choose from the Main Menu where to start.  This is not for intermediate or advanced Yoga users who want a challenge.  You will need:  a Mat, a Stretch Band/Strap/Towel,  a small Blanket, a Bolster (I improvised using a sturdy sleeping bag & large foam roller) and 2 small chairs, which I preferred using the Bolster on the floor.  This is a good starting place to learn how to release tension and connect your breath to your body.  Beautiful setting and soothing.

I'm so glad I purchased this DVD. I suffer from a lot of lower back pain and this helps me a great deal. I not only use it as a regular workout but also when my back pain gets intolerable. Rodney's excellent cueing enables me to follow along quite easily. Using the support of a chair was new for me but it really helps a lot to move more easily.

As I am suffering from Sciatic nerve pain, I expected this DVD to help me become a healthier me. The are too many props needed, to have at your disposal to use this DVD.The timing is fast and does take into account, those who must move slow due to back issues. This class would be better suited to a yoga studio.The DVD does not allow you to fast forward or rewind to specific poses as they are (linked )categorized by sections , not poses.This may be a good DVD for those who want to strengthen a healthy back, alas for me this was a misleading purchase.

I love Rodney Yees other workouts, so after I developed two bulged disks in my lower back, I picked up this dvd. It covers all the stretches my physical therapist assigned me, but has the calming effect typical of a great yoga session. Without the distraction of a classroom I can really listen to what my body is telling me and not overdo it.
