Backyard Discovery Montpelier Cedar Swing Set, Box 2 of 2

We are very pleased with the new swing set from Backyard Discovery. My son (6) and daughter (1) are LOVING IT!! Thank you for bringing some new found joy to our backyard. I love that I dont have to pack them in the car to take them to the park ;)

It is not sturdy as you would think. It creeks the whole tome 5 yr old is swing on it. He is only 46 lbs. the whole things moves while swinging again a 46 lb 5 yr old. If I could get my husband to take apart I would send it backs but it took him 2 weekend to put together. He had to predrill holes as the wood would spilt. Don't buy!!

I bought this piece and purchased assembly with it. I am so glad that I did! The company came to assemble it efficiently and quickly. My 4 year old loves it and it is the perfect size for her. I have two older sons and they also enjoy playing on the set although they are a bit too tall for the monkey bars! It is sturdy enough to handle all of them. Overall, I am very pleased with our purchase.

Directions are complicated since there are no instructions saying attach a to b just pictures that are sometimes unclear. We had a few pieces that didn't come but the company sends you replacements for missing/damaged pieces within 30 days home delivery. The fort house is a little smaller than it looks but my 8 and 4 year olds fit inside with a friend. We didn't want to spend a fortune on a swing set and this was a good value for the money. Overall we are happy with our purchase. Our girls are very happy with it and that's the most important thing

The product is exactly as described. I am a 28 year old male of moderate intelligence. I was able to put this together, by myself, with absolutely no issues, in about 14 hours. All wooden parts and screws were included with no damage. The parts list was clearly laid out in the manual. The manual provides tips to speed up the assembly process, one of which is checking that all required parts are accounted for and not damaged. The play set went together without any problems. Every screw fit, every board was the right size, the instructions were mostly clear. It basically squared itself up as I put it together, I didnt have to shim or jimmy anything to get it to be nice and square. Some of the assembly instructions and illustrations were unclear; but it wasn't anything 5 minutes of thought couldn't solve. The wood is a Chinese cedar which is very light, yet strong. It held my weight (~220 lbs) just fine during assembly. We were able to assemble each major piece (ladder, swing set, monkey bars, slide, house) separately, move it to our final location, then put all the large pieces together. The only real drawback to this unit was that it does not include any sort of weather resistant coating. The site didn't mention anything about including this, and the manual very clearly states that it has none. This isn't an issue with the product or how its advertised, its just a warning to other purchasers that it has none. In the manual they suggest you coat it every 6 months with something to protect it. I chose to purchase a 10 year solid wood stain from our local hardware store (~$80) and coat every piece of wood twice (manufacturers suggestion). This process took an additional 12 hours. I live in Florida and weather coating is a necessity down here. Had I know this was not treated, I would have purchased something that was, to save me the additional labor of painting. Overall I would say this is a great product at a great price and I would recommend it to anyone who either doesn't require a weather coating, or who doesn't mind applying weather coating.
