Very good product for the first year when both batteries were new. 2nd year not so good. Nicad batteries suck, they don't last...Now they are worthless only last about 5 minutes with decent power. They need to make a Lithium battery for this model. Does anyone know if they do??
This is really only good for patio sized yards and light trimming. If you have an average american suburban yard, do not buy this one. It is light weight and would be good for the elderly or infirm, but it is a bit weak for normal use. The motor is noisier than other trimmers, and gives the impression it could blow at any time. Keep in mind when buying a trimmer that some have Nickel Cad batteries, such as this one, and some have the stronger Lithium Ion batteries. I have used a Ryobi 18 volt model, and it is made much better than this one, and the battery will charge quicker than this one. One bad point on this one is that it will last about 30 minutes while trimming, but it will take 6-9 hours to recharge the battery, so I have to trim half the yard one day, then do the other half the next day. Save yourself the trouble if you have a large yard, and just buy a better model with the Lithium ion battery, it has better amperage than this one.
Really good for small areas such as ours. The battery is interchangeable with the other B&D tools I have.
Overall good value for the price.
The trimmer itself does not do a bad job if you do not have much to do. It does fine with short thin weeds for trimming. It does not do well with thicker and taller weeds. The battery has plenty of power, after charging about 9 hrs, but only lasts about 30 minutes before dying. I ordered a 2nd battery as a backup. When I get it, it should double the trimmers usage so I can finish in one day not 2. I would recommend this to someone with a postage stamp yard but not with a 1/2 acre or larger without a backup battery. I feel a design change needs to be done for a better battery that takes less time to charge.
